What's with picking on people who put strictly EDM?
I thought EDM listeners were more open to people listening to what they want, apparently not. Still have to make fun of people for what they do/don't listen too.

so i tried to make a non-edm version of the list, and it wasn't possible lol
that's not to say that i don't listen to other music. i just have dedicated myself fully to EDM for over 10yrs now. was into spanish music and 80s music before EDM and was never that dedicated to rap/hiphop or rock of my time.

In fact often they're nothing but Hardcore, which is laughable.
If hardcore is any given person's favourite, then they are fully entitled to post hardcore. If you don't like hardcore, then post something else. There are no right and wrong answers when it comes to preference, even if you think there is.
You're right, there are no right and wrong answers when it comes to musical preference but does it always have to be Hardcore or some form of EDM? Do you people not listen to anything else? I just think it's laughable how close-minded the majority of the user-base of this forum are. Not just in regards to topics like these but music in general.

Lol this is what i always think and it's the very same thing i thought about the thread you made; as if it's all anyone listens to.
The sad thing is i think it is.

Everyone here obviously shares an interest in the music, it's bound to pop up as some favorites.
I know that, and i know it will come up as some favourites. Current favourites i could understand, but favourite tune of all time? Favourite album of all time? That i can't understand.

Go join the suicide cult on a Death Metal forum, then.
It would probably be more active than this place and the topic of discussion not quite so repetitous :p

Who's making fun? I'm not picking, i pity.
Liking your list Jay. Mike Skinner has always been a favourite artist of mine too, same for Gorillaz.

If people only like hardcore or edm, they should be allowed to like that, even if in your, mine or someone else's opinion they are missing out on other good music. I listen to plenty of different types of music, and e.g., even if I think hardstyle is gabba for pussies, I respect that other people like it. After all, this is a forum for a particular style of music, and on such a forum, you can't expect everyone to have a varied taste. One could even say that you're the one being close-minded in this case, with your view on people only liking EDM, but I generally like your posts, so I'll let it slip ;)
I find it hard to nail down a single favourite song/artist/album of all time, so I'll just link to some songs that I've liked for some time, but I'll have to come back later and add them as my browser is currently giving me shit when I try to go on youtube to search.

Always loved Dido since I heard White Flag on the radio. It was always the song playing in my head when there was a sad ending in a book or graphic novel I was reading. Then I bought the album, two years ago, and i still listen to it every day.
Gorillaz are just awesome. Their videos, music and live shows kick ass in every way possible. Love 'em, plain and simple.
SynthWulf is my favourite hardcore artist ever, and the song Full Moon Freeform is probably my favourite track ever.
As for Skinner, where to start. The man is lyrically amazing, the simple but intense beat behind most of his songs works perfectly. He's very inventive with his videos. All round brilliant.

Who's saying they aren't allowed to like just EDM or even just Hardcore? People are well within their own rights to like whatever they please. I just feel sorry for them, with all the great music out there at the moment and all the amazing music that came before they're stuck in this little bubble of repetitive beats - which i love too, but i'm aware that there's more than this and can enjoy it.
You're right about this being a forum for a certain kind of music so it's obvious that music should be most users top choice but then again forums like DOA and the Dubstep forum. Most of the users there have a more eclectic taste in music; loving their D&B and/or Dubstep but at the same time digging House, Trance, Indie, Jazz even some Hardcore. I don't think i'm being close-minded it just frustrates me when people comment on music when they've no idea what music is.

Best ever? Easy. I want to die to this song playing subtly in the background.
Huge inspiration to me. Its very lifting and gives me allot of confidence before major swimming events.
Bop, London Elektricity, Logistics. Hardcore for me is quite backseat, I wait for songs to fall on my ears rather than go out on a limb to explore.
Feeder is one Ive always enjoyed since I was a child, and High Contrast and Pendulum fall into the mix aswell, but when I weigh up the options, it has to be London Elektricity for me. Here's why;
Favourite Album? Currently in my possession I'd have to say Clear Your Mind by Bop... Its a very good album, and everything is put in perspective.
Best Album Ever? I desire to own an album called Gas 0095 from a label called Emit. Its VERY rare, and has a track on there called Microscopic.
This makes you feel very small, dont cut your self.
I absorb allot of inspiration and 'life energy' from drum and bass and tracks with meaning, rather than allot of the mindless crap that is hardcore nowadays. Believe it or not, hardcore neither inspires or lifts me much nowadays, unless its very special.

There is great music out there at the moment? Where?
everything is electrorock, pseudo rnb and wannabe punk. Even the latest muse album was nothing brilliant. While I don't spend a huge amount of time listening to music, the latest properly good album I heard was Reanimation by Linkin Park. Cracker album that. Sparrowsound's free to a good home was also excellent but i'm thinking non-edm
edit: actually, now that I think about it, metallica's latest album death magnetic was really good barring the appalling recording quality. I also listened to the first riverside album with a friend of mine yesterday. I subsequently borrowed the first two albums. Brilliant stuff, simply incredible!!

Well hell I could talk for hours about why I think Andrew Bird, Devotchka, Johnny Cash, Modest Mouse, and Dethklok are fantastic but for the most part I like edm a whole damn lot. But, to seriously not expect the majority of these songs be EDM on "The most popular Hardcore Dance site the world" then that's pretty silly. The same could be said if you go to a website about Classical music, rock music, whatever general consensus is that people with very similar tastes will gather together. Plus it's to not hard to like mostly EDM because it's a large and broad genre with lots of sub genres with even smaller sub genres packed in.
