I remember reading a article about this at one point but i'm going to ask all of you guys =)

Why do DJs use such an old format to play music that is so futuristic?
and keep making music on that same old format?

all DJs could be using CDJs by now, but do not. Is there something about vinyl that keeps us DJs coming back?

(Please try and think of reasons other then scratching)

A lot of people claim sound quality is better through phonograph. Other than that it's hard to think of good reasons other than scratching, because no form of DJ equipment can get the same scratch feel and sound as vinyl. Some people also like the feel of vinyl, being able to touch the record to slow it down or speed it up. Other than that, a lot of people feel cooler playing vinyl, girls are more interested for some reason lol.

Using vinyl sure do make me feel great.
It also makes me feel like i'm keeping a tradition alive.

I had no idea chicks dig it.

Hey, I take offense to that!

I would use Vinyl if they were cheaper; the cost effectiveness is missing from Vinyl. Compared to buying large unmixed CDs of 50 songs compared to one Vinyl, it should be obvious. DJs who use CDJs aren't "real" DJs? They don't match beats, try not to clash synths, or do any general mixing that Vinyl DJs do?

Now, if you're using a program like Virtual DJ, and hitting "match beats" (or whatever it's called on there), then yes.. you're not a 'real' DJ.

Yea i can see why people would use cd decks because of cost, but iv dj'd with both and when i used the cd decks i felt like hadnt really done that much but with vinyl because it all hands on i felt like i had done everything, so when that absolutly perfect mix comes in the buzz is just immense.... I dunno maybe its just me.

Oh and i know there was to be no mention, but scratching was a big part of my sets when i used to dj, especially since i didnt just dj hardcore. So that would always sway me towards vinyl...

i'm using vinyl and cdj.

why am i using vinyl ?

- for the sound
- the feeling you can have with
- because i'm proud to see my vinyl collection
- because mixing on vinyl is magic
- girls like it

if i like vinyl so much, why have i 2 cdj1000 ?

- for the promo tracks
- because when i want to go on a friend's party, i don't have to take my 2kg vinyl box with me
- because sometime i don't have enough money for a vinyl, or because i like only 1 track on the vinyl

that's what i can say about my personal experience.

maybe i forgot things but the main are here ;)

Vinyls are just so awesome. I'm actually glad I listen to a genre that still produces to vinyl. It makes me feel as if I'm part of a tradition.

It dates back 1000s of years, dj hixxy was at the pub with sy and hixxy ran out of money for his shouts, sy was mad and hit hixxy with a dinosaur bone, since that day they buy each others vinyls and not beers.
to this day people buy vinyls

True story. Vinyl is the standard in DJing and always has been. It's only in the last few years that things have really changed. It's not using vinyl that's unusual, not the other way around. If you don't already see why vinyl is superior and the real deal then you probably never will.

vinyl is best end of

the feel the sound the fun

cds are good dont get me wrong however mixing turns into nothing more than button pressing. i find it feels clinical and less interactive
