here in northern ireland it snowed heavily and from yesterday to know its just pure ice with the only snow on grass not even footpaths,Hetict walkin to school, 1mile uphill 1 mile downhill competley covered

Gritter isn't that bad, but it is more expensive than salt. Last winter, when we had temperatures down to -25C in my hometown, winter service still used tons of salt instead of gritter. That only resulted into melting the snow/ice for a few minutes. The whole mess refreezed, making the streets more useful for ice skating than driving. And by middle of January the services complained, that salt was out.
But of course, irresponsibility always is anoying. Just the same as drivers use puddles for showering pedestrians.
