Here you dont get a drivers licence if you dont pass an ice test (driving fast, hit brakes, after you lose control, you need to gain back control. After that yo do a controlled stop. Lesson being the difference of the two.), in summer they use some sort of oil to imitate ice. Quite fun actually.

If only that was the case here.

I went to go renew my tags on my license plate, and a guy was there to get his license who couldn't speak or read a word of English. He ended up getting his license through his translator.. so he has to drive on our roads, where everything is in English, and he can drive legally.

I heard it is pathetically easy to get your licence down there in the US

I had to do my driving test 3 bloody times

Took me 3 times too. Colchester's one of the hardest places to do it.

Took me 1/4th times to do it. It really is that easy.

Only good thing is I am a good driver compared to everyone around here who don't release the brake isn't the gas pedal.

I passed first time in the states (hardly surprisng though, i had years of practice before my friends forced me to take it lol) - havent taken my british one yet - not looking forward to it though, as its going to cost me a retarded amount of money.

I payed $10-20 in total to get my theory, practical and actual bit of plastic with my face on it.

over here i will have to pay..what is it these days? like 60 for my theory...and i've no idea what the practical is...then theres probably more fees on that for the actual ID...

my wife drives our car, she has a license..took her two trys i think, she was hampered by BSM being a bunch of morons and changing the car to one she had never driven the day before the test.

Passed both theoretical and practical tests on the first attempts, cus I'm just that great.

Like in Finland, we also have a mandatory slippery road test we have to pass before we can even take the practical driving test. Started off with just getting a feel of how slippery it was, seeing what happened if we used the breaks, turned off the engine, hammered down the clutch etc. on slippery surfaces, and later on we had to do dodge "pedestrians". They weren't immobile, they were controlled via remote by our instructors, and usually thrown into the road at the worst moment :p

Ha! That's badass, the cost of everything sucks though there.

Anyway, it started to LIGHTLY snow, and it's not even sticking, and people are already driving like idiots.

Let me rephrase that.

They're driving like they have a hatchet sticking out of their skull covered in narcotics that paralyzes them from the head down.

Yeah, prices are higher here than a lot of other places, but I think we have slightly higher salaries to make up for it, to an extent. Still, a lot of things are really expensive. How much does getting a license cost in US&A? I think you can easily reach 20.000NOK here, depending on the number of regular lessons. 20.000NOK is about 3.300USD.

If I remember correctly it cost me $25 to take my test for my permit (Have to drive around with a licensed driver, i.e. your parents for at minimum 6 months), and $40 for the road test? The forty was only because it's an outside company and they can charge what they want, and the road test was as easy as me driving down the road, changing lanes, turning, going on the freeway for exactly one minute, then going back to where we started and backing up into a spot than parallel parking.

That's $65 over the course of ~6 months, so about 397.80 NOK.

No wonder every 16 year old has a car. Too young to be driving for many imo.

I agree, it's idiotic.

I was driving behind some girl yesterday, obviously on her way to school with the soap crap on her windows going "<SCHOOL> WOOOOO". She had NO hands on the wheel at all, her mirror was pointed towards her as she fixed her hair instead of looking at traffic, and to piss me off even more she drove her Daddy's expensive Lincoln.

And it's no wonder I see people pulled over every single day.
