Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd:
New protests on Egyptians wanting better pay break out, this might roll over into MORE shite.
And, protesters in Iran are hit by tear gas from the police, looks like others are at least trying now. Let's hope it goes as well as Egypt!

I saw this today:
Protesters clash at a student's funeral; apparently pro-government protesters came to the funeral saying the boy who died on Monday was on their side, not against the government. Which turned into a big crowd chanting death threats to the people that came.
Seriously, do people have no respect? For ****ings sake, the kid died believing in what he did. Don't soil the sad moment with your egotistical BS.

Only about a week or so before the media outlets started to pick it up, Wikileaks released two cables. One about police brutality, and another about how the GoE (Government of Egypt) was using emergency law to crackdown/arrest bloggers who were protesting about various subjects of Egyptian current affairs. Another topic is that the GoE contacted the four main ISP's of Egypt and told (forced?) them to shutdown all Internet traffic in and out of Egypt.
So, the Army of Egypt is handed control, yet the people are still in the streets protesting. The Army's response, "Go back to work". How is this not a quasi-dictatorship as it was before; if not even worst in some areas compared to the former President Mubarak?
NOTE: If the Wikileaks is a no-no subject, then notify me or an op is free to edit it accordingly. But know this, Wikileaks is nothing more than a media outlet themselves. The Guardian (UK) and The New York Times (US) have done exactly what said organization has done, but for decades.

The difference being that Wikileaks is non-profit, and likely doesn't bow to pressure like a newspaper would, plus they publish the source material.

i'd just like to echo the sentiment that it truely would be awesome if countries with oppresive regimes were able to rise up and bring down their own corruption.
could save the rest of us a headache ;)
of course it begs the question as to what happens in the power-vaccum that follows...people power that is strong enough to take down their own govenment would hopefully be able to sort out something a little more in their favour..

Now the military is basically telling people to GTFO the streets. Sounds like a much better dictatorship to me, the people with guns is telling us what to do now! More shit to happen, I'm sure.

I wouldn't worry. The Egyptian military is heavily dependant on money from the US, I'm sure the election will go ahead.

Some Libyan pilots have defected to Malta after being asked to attack the protesters.

Not surprised at all TBH. Asking military to attack its own people isn't going to end well.

Unlike Mubarak, Gaddafi has been a member of the army. The majority of the army will follow his demands, but the population seems to be too powerful, due they took over control over some military bases and divisions were orded to withdrawal.
I am having a dj vu! A few days ago I indicated, that pop music developed back to the sound of around 89/90. Looking into word news, I feel the same connection. 1989 the Eastern Bloc collapsed one country after another. And now have a look to the Arabic world.

I like that analogy, I feel sorry for the people in Libya.
