Considering the "rapture" is supposed to start at 18:00 local time (regardless of time zone) then Australia and other countries in that area should have already experienced it. I can't say that the news is covering the end of the world in much depth at the moment, to be honest, in the day and age of 24/7 news channels I'd have thought they would at least mention the end of the world once in a while.
