I'm trying to piece together hardcore genres and their history so I can place them in something such as a flowchart or tree structure. This is what I currently have based mostly on guesswork.
Does anyone have some input on what should go where?

hmmmm maybe adding other genres would make it more interesting?
'hardcore rave' (early hardcore in your list im guessing?) also influenced the genre jungle which spawned DnB for eg

My primary focus is on hardcore; what spawned it, and what it has spawned, and everything inside it.
Is Hardcore Rave the same as Early Hardcore, or just a type of Early Hardcore?

Now that I think about it, did Happy Hardcore emerge from Dutch Hardcore?

Hmm I suggest you double check on Makina, as some members have said on here that it is an evolution of house music and not hardcore.

YEA, MAKINA AINT HAPPY LOLZ... well I think :P
Makina might have its own tree, since it came more from Techno and Italodisco than rave
Honestly, Ishkur's guide is still one of the better. I wonder how he will incorperate dubstep into the mix :P
He might be dissing the genre's, but that didnt stop him from listing tracks from them.

Makina came from Happy Hardcore (Dutch Style) & 90's Hard Trance.

http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/ should be banned, it is just one guys warped view on music... there is even a genre "stupid house"... The guy is living in a dream land, don't recommend this site.

quote: Stupid House: Pretty interchangeable with Nu-NRG, except where Nu-NRG is hard and driving every once in awhile, Stupid House [...] is just retarded.
quote: Gabber House: Holy shit this is ever cheesy. What is this even going in Hardcore? Is sounds like a house genre that kinda wandered off and now has gotten itself lost, with Rave hoovers and mental ****up cheesiness. This is the cheesiest cheese that you will ever cheese on. Even the cheese of the cheese who make this cheese are cheesy. The cheesiest of cheesy cheeses abound. It's cheesy even for euro cheese. Most wouldn't even cheese this cheese. Absolute cheese cheese.
Explanation level
This made me laugh, but this wasn't a professional writing this.
Hope someone makes it better.

I'd say Dutch Hardcore emerged from Belgian New Beat and Techno. And you've also got Bouncy Techno as an offshoot of happy hardcore and gabber.
