Is it not J-Core because the lyrics if any are sung in Jap? Personally I think they should just label the whole J-Core , vocal or not under a name like "Yellowcore" or maybe "Slapcore"? Just a thought that's all

the j-core label came when japanese hardcore actually sounded different from today. Now it's fairly indistinguishable from eachother, the same way british hardcore is indistinguishable from today's spanish makina.
DJ Sharpnel seems to call their stuff Frenchcore alot, but compared to the Frenchcore I've heard. Sharpnel's stuff is friggin more melodic in comparsion.
And Elliott, would you want us to call it Upfront Hardcore again? :P
I for one, will keep using the terms "UK Hardcore" for stuff that imitates British Hardcore, "Makina" for anything that imitates Spanish Fast Techno, and "Japanese Hardcore" for anything Touhou related :P

Well he would be the smartest cookie in the jar because he would be the only cookie in the jar after eating all of them.
And honestly the problem with calling it just hardcore is that the majority of the world will think of gabber hardcore instead of uk hardcore. Gabber hardcore has 10 times the fanbase as UK/happy hardcore does. And so many people still call the current UK hardcore sound happy hardcore, even though there's not much about it that is as "happy" as it used to be.

Digital high five for that.

Hmm. :P
Still though, the main reason I don't like these names that are intertwined with a nationality is that they carry a subtle implication that fans, DJs and producers from other countries aren't invited to the party. I'd be in favour of any name that doesn't carry that same implication.

Frenchcore would have the same problem, but then, does it really refer to French Hardcore? It's like saying Death Metal is all about death and... oh wait it is all about death >_<
Calling it British Hardcore would be out of the question as it just has the same meaning like UK (unless you include US as being a part of the UK before, maybe it still works :P). So, what should we call it? And another question, when does Happy Hardcore stop being just that, and where does "New Hardcore" start?
Maybe we should make a new thread about this as I can't say it feels very racist. If some African dude or South American (DjFundaBounce *cough*) makes music that's good, I will buy it. Heck, if Breeze makes a track I like I will buy it. Who needs all the cookies in the jar to make good music... or the mastering skills (yea, I'm looking at you Dopeman! I'm still waiting for a better copy of BADBOY!!!) :P

I like to do this, because the term "UK Hardcore" was already used for the more breakbeat oriented Hardcore tracks in the beginning of the 90's.
