As for raving sober, I've found that as I've got older and seem to struggle more and more with hangovers, I try to just have a few beers, nothing to crazy, just a few beers...Oh yeah and avoid them shorts (this is the hard part for you!).

I've been raving since 2005, and I've never taken any substance, and honestly don't want to. I'm also 25, and I've never even been the least bit buzzed, and honestly never want to be. I get to a rave when it begins, and usually stay til I've heard what I want to hear. That can range from all night, to just 5-6 hours.

If I drink alcohol and do any strenuous exercise (which for a skinny, out of shape piece of shit like me includes dancing at a rave), I almost instantly start feeling terrible. Even if I just have a beer I'm just like "urg".
That said, I ended up getting super hammered at Colossalcon a few weeks back the night before I played and by some miracle my hangover cleared up just in time for my set.

I very rarely ever get drunk at a rave, my only one being at Toronto last year. Oh and I guess you could count the waterpark party and one of the boat parties from last year's HTID ITS.
But I'm with a lot of people on here I go mostly for the music and I'm too involved socializing or on the dancefloor to drink that much. And if I do drink I do find it better to drink something like a rum and coke instead of a beer because beer does slow you down and gives you a heavier feeling. Still I normally would mix it up haha.

I've been sober raving all the time if we are regarding non-alcoholic drugs. Only twice I smoked a joint with other persons after leaving the event and tried to calm down.
I regulary drink before and during an event. The amount depends on the music that gets played. If I really like it I drink less. And I try to stay on the same level for the rest of the night, which works pretty well. I've never learned to drink responsibly before I started to rave. I try to stay on cider all the time, but sometimes I grab a Vodka-Energy. And of course water is very important.

How come your looking to go sober anyway Jay?
I've had intentions of "taking it easy" at a few events but always fail miserably, infact i usually end up worse off come the end!
I've never touched anything other than drink at raves but struggle to draw the line and end up in the blank out state.
One day I'll learn....
......but good luck anyway! Haha

Never been pissed in half a lifetime of raving, and never understood the need.
No wonder you can't last all night.... fcukin' light weight.

I was raving/dancing/clubbing whatever you want to call it a year or so ago at an Old Skool event and ended up hyper on the stupid amounts of cheap crap lemonade i drank They where serving pints of lemonade from bottles of 69p lemonade and charging ?3 a time!!
I haven't had a alcoholic drink in 3 and a half years and dont plan on drinking alcohol for the foreseeable future.

Purely financial and health mate. Not experimental, or anything like that. I could do without spending the money, and I don't want to take until Thursday before I start eating properly and feel like exercising again. It's just such a massive blow to the body. And that's just a rave. If you do a two or three day session off the back of it, then you're really looking at long recovery periods.
Getting too old!

Varies. Majority of the time I just drink (but don't take 'just drink' to mean a soft night. I immaturely/to my detriment seriously drink). Sometimes I do a lot of non-booze stuffs as well. Sometimes I will do a relatively sensible boozey rave, but then go to a mate's afterwards and carry on for another day and a half or something stupid.
But trust me, a seriously heavy night on the sauce at 26 can easily take four days to get fully over. Easily.

Lol you sound like a clone of me. Sometimes it takes me until Wednesday/Thursday to get over a heavy session on a Saturday. When I compare this to my younger days its quite ridiculous. Really can't do this anymore as I need to try and stay focused in my job and this isn't possible when I feel like shit for the majority of the week.
As for sober raving I've never tried it properly. At Htid in the sun I seen a few sets sober but personally I much prefer to be out my tits. I can enjoy the atmosphere a lot more when I've had a few shandies

that's sad. I'm 30 and get shitfaced and it only takes me 2 days at the most for a full recovery lol
I hate to see what it's like for you in 4 years.

I'm going to try and do Sinistry (29th June) totes sober.
Event thread: http://www.happyhardcore.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=60377 If you're thinking about coming to this event, or are a bit unsure - don't be! It's fcuking MAGNIFICENT, and the crowd is right up there with Hard Beats, Munted! and Stomp!.
I've done it, just think its like listening to music at home but louder and with more people
