So I got in there. Went to the bar. Was thinking, "Yeah, just get a water innit" whilst I was queuing at the bar.
"What can I get you mate?"
"Erm, I'll have a double vodka and coke and a tequila please mate".
Just came out! Couldn't help it. I'm so painfully predictable.
On the plus side - however - I remember basically the entire evening and didn't drink anywhere near my normal level. Didn't spend too much. Fcuking off the charts night, though. Amazing.

Well good and that's the way it should be really. You don't need to go through the whole thing sober just be completely coherent and able to stand on your own 2 feet all on your own.
EDIT: Just wanted to add not saying that you have to drink to have a good time, but if you are a drinker a few drinks is ok just don't get obliterated.

Yeah, yeah I know all that. I wasn't attempting it sober because I want to not get smashed. It was purely health and financially motivated.

I've been in some terrible messes at raves in the past, horribly drunk and its all very hazy, i somehow managed to fall asleep during hyperbolics very last event at club revolution in peterborough before the venue closed down last year, i was hammered and felt tired, went for a sit down, next thing dandan and i think also ravinpix were taking photos of me laying on one of the sofas near the stage, i was sparko haha, i just run out of steam and go to pieces, alcohol makes me so tired, and also hungry too, the doormen at boro got to know when i used to disappear about 2 or 3am for some munch, you off to the kebaby again then dan lol
Quite ironic really that now i don't drive anymore i actually drink less than i used to when i still had a license, altho i was often the designated driver, id get everyone to the right town on the night, go to the rave, and then spend the next day crashing round whoever's house was nearest the venue and sleep it off before going home sunday night, now having to rely on trains and stuff to get around i have to keep my wits about me to a point, and not being so wrecked you risk falling asleep on the train home, i've not done that....yet.
I also don't touch the chems anymore, i know i'm a nobody in comparison to other MCs, i'm still very new to it, i only had my first booking this may, but in my mind the rave scene gets enough bad press about drugs as it is, without people who are performing at an event then walking round the same event they've just played while off their bollocks on stuff, i dont think its a very good look if i were to do that.

Some of the shit Storm comes out with always makes me think he's having a particularly bad night mixing cocaine and alcohol. He may well be sober, I don't know, I've never actually had to suffer him live in person, but if he is sober then that's just all the more worrying.

Same happened to me one night *many* years ago. I played with no monitors and to make up for it the venue gave me a whole ton of free drink passes. But i'm a lightweight, and it was later than I was used to being awake, so I ended up asleep on one of the benches (it had pillows!) w/ a full cup of Rev (a canadian alcoholic energy drink) in my hand upright w/o spilling. There's a photo of my friend pretty much drinking from it while I was out cold. Oops!

Ahh, so glad im not alone in this haha, it also happened to me about 6 months later at another hypers, this time in yarmouth, i was fed jagerbombs, i dont get on with jager, it just ruins me, the stimulant properties of the red bull have no effect on me in that respect, i wasnt even that pissed that time, just tired from a late night the night before.
One of the barstaff woke me up and said look lively in case the doorstaff spot you, you might get kicked out, 10 minutes later i was on stage, a mate who was performing that night asked me if i fancied going back to back on the mic with him on his set, so i thought bugger it, im pretty confident my voice still works so i just did it, ended up getting booked at the next hyperbolic as well so worked out quite well really lol.
And in response to Elliot, with regard to the storm comment, i have seen him live, a LOT, i mean nearly every weekend throughout most of 2011 and 2012 in some cases, and although the odd few people say they reckon they've seen him taking stuff when at raves and even while he's on stage, i've simply never ever witnessed it in any way, not ever.
And although i do know him personally to speak to up until a point, i have friends who are proper close friends with him, and he is just really like that in real life, full of energy 24/7 and always on the go, a proper character in every sense of the word, and i don't think for one minute that if he was taking stuff all the time he would still be a picture of health and on top of his game like he is, because theres no way anyone could do chems literally every single weekend for the last what, 15 odd years and not be a wreck by now, its not possible, i have mates i grew up with who fell into that sort of thing and they were all ruined at one time or another through it, just no way.
Carl is a bit like marmite from what i can see, loved or hated, theres not really any kind of middle ground, but all the way from rocking to him back in 1998 on tape packs all the way through to more present times where our paths have crossed at raves in a face to face sense, he has always been nothing but wicked to me, people will have their own experiences of the man and form their own opinions from that, but for me he's always been approachable, pleasant, and real, a world away from the arrogant prick he's made out to be, in fact i have had my own personal shit thats sometimes nothing to do with hardcore going on in life, and i know that the first person who i know i can turn to for fair and honest advice is Carl, and he has in fact given me that good solid advice on more than one occasion, from topics such as starting to MC myself to relationships, and he's always spot on too, the guy knows whats what.

Yeah, this has always been my take on it really. It makes more sense that he's just an unbelievably passionate, energetic bloke than someone that's been taking shit three times a weekend since the late '90s. He'd be a wreck by now, or worse.
I have always admired his passion and energy.

Yep, been there mate!
I remember one summer I was sat outside a bar with a few mates totally hanging after a very heavy night/morning on the sauce, even the thought/smell of alcohol was enough to put us off - I said I'll go to the bar and get us some water, without even realising I walked back to the table and put 4 pints of lager down. It was this experience that taught me to disengage the automatic pilot when ordering drinks.
