https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HHA_Stage1 - STAGE ONE VOTING It's that time again! On Saturday 6th December the Hardcore Heaven Awards take place at the O2 in Bournemouth. The voting starts tomorrow Wednesday 18th September and I'm guessing there will be a 'best freeform DJ' category again. Last year the winners were Fracus & Darwin and the 3 runners up were Kevin Energy (not currently DJ'ing), Sharkey (sporadically DJ'ing) and Marc Smith (great DJ, not 'freeform' though? I don't know). People moaned and moaned on the net but probably don't realise that they could have changed the outcome if they used their brain a bit more and played the game. This year we have the power to make the final 4 a bit more realistic (if you want) with DJs and producers who are active, playing freeform and pushing boundaries. This is not a plea for votes, I hammered it last year and it didn't get me anywhere as you can see from the final 4. I am saying as a collective we need to put votes together and all vote for the same DJ or producer. A few votes here and there for European producers or obscure favourites will just thin the votes and will not make an impact. The 80% of ravers who go to big events will vote for the 4 DJs above as that's just the way it is, so you either complain about it or you make sure your vote is counted. We have to decide on who to vote for and people make an effort to vote for this person. Vote for me, vote for A.B, vote for Douglas, vote for Lost Soul, vote for Kev if you think he deserves it, just don't spread your votes thinly because it will just result in another 2012 result where freeform music as a genre doesn't move forward and someone doesn't get their hard work rewarded. Vote for someone you think can win, with the right support. It's a lot to read I understand, and you might not agree with me (which is fine), but this is how voting works. If the same thing happens again then none of us have a right to moan cos Slammin are really REALLY making an effort to get freeform on at every event and if the results don't match the music they are pushing then believe me, we all lose. Thanks for reading!

Is it guaranteed there WILL be Freeform categories again this year or do we have to vote to include them again?

Yeah, that's what I'm wondering.

Before we start choosing who will win the award, better make sure there's one to win first!

Personally I don't like the idea of throwing the votes to just 1 freeform dj and producer. I mean people do after all have a right to their own opinion.
I do however believe there should be somd quality control in the category. I mean granted sharkey and kevin energy have come out of retirement a few times this past year, but they have yet to do any significant in the scene this year.
And ome freeform track shouldn't automatically put you in the freeform category. Clearly someone who organizes these awards should have some basic knowledge of who's currently contributing to the freeform. They can't be that ignorant or have their heads so far up their own arses.

Yes people do have their own opinion but if you look at what happened last year, the votes for freeform DJs and producers was so thinly spread that the votes didn't have an effect. There needs to be an effort made to vote for people that are in with a chance of winning.

OR like I mentioned tell the ppl running these awards that these particular DJs are not true freeform DJs, even maybe have Marc Smith and Fracus & Darwin respectfully bow down from the running in the freeform category. Also same goes for Kevin Energy if he appears again, since he has retired and had 1 maybe 2 surprise gigs since then.
Also it's not their fault that they were in the running, it's the f**king idiots that predominately stay in the mainstream UK hardcore scene. The whole nominees were made up from everyone's votes, after all, rather than have someone else pick the nominations for us. So it's pretty obvious they have a small knowledge of the freeform scene, and think that Fracus & Darwin only produce freeform lol.

I think these awards are very conveniently tailored to play into certain peoples' hands.
Fracus & Darwin are arguably one of the biggest Hardcore acts, and their label stands up well to Futureworld.
How better to pacify them than take them out of the category completely, and label them a sub-genre?
I've not voted in these awards since like 2009, and if you ask me, they're a load of bollocks.

I'm not saying they should be taken out of every category, just the Freeform category since even they don't label themselves completely freeform artists. They see themselves as UK hardcore artists, and should be running for best UK hardcore djs, producers, and collaborations.
And yes Hardcore Underground should definitely repeat as best Hardcore Label. Personally I don't believe Futureworld has done enough to earn that title, seeing as how they still manage to be so completely late on releasing everything that people want. And everything they have released in my opinion does not compare to what Hardcore Underground has done the whole year, and even in the upcoming month(s).
Every year it's the same ppl say what a load of shit it is and don't vote, but if Hardcore Underground managed to pull an incredible upset last year to take home best hardcore label, then it clearly shows it's not as much of a BS as people think. So stand on the sidelines and bitch all you want, or you could humor us and put in a vote.
