thats the thing why i am basically not going out these days anymore. besides the fact that i dont like the music, i only would go out when loaded up on stuff so then its easy to go out on your own and the socializing stuff (usually suspect things to me) works well too.
probably you can get better advices but the few times i went out sober, i was feeling weird, standing there knowing no one, getting bored pretty soon, had a few pints and got moody and headed back home.

There isn't really any prejudice here. It's perfectly acceptable.

You're probably right, when it comes to people who are part of the scene, but this doesn't count for outsiders - at least this is what I have personally experienced so far. If you listen to Raggae in the eyes of society you automatically are a wheedhead. When you go to raves you're a drug addicted person, because no one should be able to listen to electronic music without being strung-out. Listen to Metal and you're on cocaine right away.
I simply can't understand why other people are not able to notice that something you do is because you simply have a passion for it.

Seriously most people don't give a **** what other people listen to here. I mean yeah there a minority of idiots that might, but that has nothing to do with the music, it's just because they are idiots anyway and they don't count. People might notice that notice that it's a bit unusual that you listen to any of the things listed but wouldn't judge you for it if they are people worth talking to to begin with.

I managed to find raves and hardcore completely randomly, while going out alone in 2001. Some of the people I met that night I'm still friends with.
I say go and have fun! You'll meet a lot of great people and from then on have a crew of music lovers to hang around when you are out. And from what I've seen about Stomp! you should definitely try and make it out to that.

You're typing has really gone downhill lol. Really trying to be true to the chav lifestyle eh? I doubt anywhere near 50% go to raves sober btw. Although if they did that would be really cool.

I went to a United Dance back in the day on my own and it was a great experience tbh. Met loads of people there so never really felt alone. To be honest I normally lose all my mates for at least a good couple of hours nearly every party I go to anyway. :P No one would even notice you're raving on your own mate.

I often go to raves on my own. When I began going I didn't know anyone into hardcore so I didn't have a choice. But these days I've met so many amazing through raving that I always know people there.
I now have a raving family. I would not hesitate to go on your own at all. Even in the worst case scenario where you don't get talking to anyone, you will still have an amazing night and rock out to the best music in the world.

He's from Sheffield! Leeds and Birmingham should be options for him to my opinion.

I've been to plenty by myself. But I usually end up more wasted due to spending a lot of the time at the bar, instead of socialising.
