hi guys, what's the best possible way to get noticed by people and possibly get signed to a record label or to play at a venue?
just thought i'd ask as i have been promoting my stuff on here/facebook/twitter and i'm having no luck with it.
as regards to the people who have listened to mix mixes respect to you!
any tips/info will be gratefully appreciated
i know with hardcore there is going to be a small selection of events but I mainly mix hardcore (Addicted to it lol)
thanks, Marc

If you're just Djing then you've got no chance. Assuming that you're producing tracks then I suppose the only way to get signed is be good at it and send your top productions to the guys running the record labels. Sorry if that's quite simplified but it really is the only way.

you dont get signed to a label with just djing, but if you have contacts to labels while you have made some decent skilled sets, and kindly ask, then you may get promos from them.

Only producers are signed to record labels (at least in Hardcore anyway) so that isn't a possibility. It's very difficult to get anywhere DJing as even if you are really good there is already so much competition. It's more about having the right connections i think. Or being able to promote yourself very effectively. Like with Cotts (and the other guy, i forgot his name) etc and his youtube mixes, which are a common thing now amongst all DJ's.

yeah you know what i mean regarding getting signed/gigs, but it would help if i produced my own stuff then basically i've got a better chance of getting gigs rather than just dj'ing.
what really inspired me was the HTiD dj/mc competition they had at weekender 2012 which i didnt enter as my equipment was shite and pretty much just sarted to get into dj'ing properly. lol
i know im just starting out well i say starting out been doing it for a while but only just started to record my mixes and i thought i'd post them on here to see what people think

What 'stuff' are you referring to? As you know Djing alone isn't enough, so basically it wouldn't even be worth a try if you're just trying to get a few sets at events based on your mixing skills.
The only way around this would either be to run your own event, or get friendly with promoters of smaller events.
If you're producing hardcore then I'm probably the wrong person to help you as I've never even attempted to make a tune! Lol.

C.Kay isn't a producer right? But he's signed to future World.
But to be honest, as long as you can get another job, keep on doing the music stuff for a hobby. Unless you can start producing chart hits a la Swedish House Mafia, you wont gain much

I think being able to scratch really well on top of solid mixing will set you apart.
I've heard plenty of hardcore mixes, but not so many with some wicked scratching.
Hardcore Heaven 3, Sy's mix, his scratching on the opening track "All Night Long"... so damn sick.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yghj3ZRfZxk And please don't feel you need to mix out early out of every single song. Not saying you do, I haven't heard your mix, I see it in the other thread, I'll give it a listen.

Agreed.
Of if your focus is mixing top 40 music and going for a radio DJ gig.

i meant as in producing my own tunes to get noticed but i'm in the same position as you i wouldnt know where to start lol. i did use fruity loops at one point but suppose it was just a phase of trying to make songs but didnt happen, plus it was bassline and speed garage lol back in the day
suppose i could try holding my own event or something but then you've got the cost of the room, plus other things will come into it aswell

He is listed as artist on homepage, y, but i'm not sure if he is actually signed to label; imo. because he is good friends with everyone there (specially breeze), he can use fw stuff on events and such.
But the point is, even when he is signed, its not common at all in the scene.

to be honest i find mixing chart music quite difficult depending on what type of song it is but i aso mix electro house, so suppose being a hardcore dj is out of the question why not try and do another genre? most of the clubs by me mainly play Electro house, some chart stuff, there's nothing stopping me from having a go and trying to get in there!
Too devoted to my hardcore lol
