I agree that Mc's can either make or break a set.
I also agree that certain 'pairs' work better than others. i.e:
Sy and Storm
Hixxy/Clarkee and Sharkey

In drum and bass particularily as i don't enjoy the newer drum n bass without a good mc rolling along wit it,

Like a bolt of lightning it's so frightning..Get ur brain now we're igniting

honestly the only time i can think of that i have appreciated an mc is mc cyclone and dyrewitness 'masterplan' that song rocks hard and even more harder due to cyclone.......he says cool sh!t at the right time and just makes the song go off big time!!!!

on the other side i was at a rave and there was a retard called secret mc who was just ruining things and i tell you what if he hadnt been hiding somewhere i would have thrown my glowsticks at him in disgust.

A good mc like me is da BEST
A bad mc is the WORST
The trick is being good at what you say and knowing when to shut up!

I think an MC can make a set a lot more enjoyable to listen to,and can really uplift the place. But and this is a big but, there are a lot of crap mcs out there.
I hate it when they talk over the lyrics and the really good parts of songs.
As long as the mc can rhyme, keep in time, has an ok voice and knows when to shut up then I will like them.
Some good mc:
Storm
Whizzkid
Skibadee
Det
E-by-Gum
They are all absolutely wikkid mcs.

Im just a bassline addict
Im just a hardcore addict
Im just a dancefloor manic
Why o why cant you just accept it.

In my opinion, a very bad example of 'MC use' is the Mixmag CD... A really cool CD, but the MC vocals on it are superfluous and annoying... mix-CD's DON'T need MC's...

i think the reason that the mc'ing sounds odd on the mixmag cd, is because there's no crowd there, and he just sounds like he's sitting on the desk holding a mic and not hyped up like an mc should be..

i think at a party, a decent mc is essential.. there is ALOT more crowd interaction with an mc, and much more of a sense of togetherness, instead of a guy far away on the stage playing music, completely seperated from the crowd

Well the issue is that I really dont see the point of MCs in HHC personally. Actually in dance oriented music all together. In hip hop the MC is laying down lyrics and flow over beats that the DJ is coming up with FOR the MC to work with. They DJ and MC work together/play off of each other in order to play on the crowd and with the crowd. On the dance side of things its the DJ and the crowd working off of each other. The DJ is laying down music for the crowd really. The MC then just seems to be there for the ride and interjects here and there. Doesnt seem natural to me and or I dont feel it in that case. Id like to get proven wrong though. (as in see someone live at a show be a good MC with HHC).

i dont think the rave would be the same without mc's........but remember a dj can do his job without an mc but an mc cannot do his job without a dj
