i started to lose faith in hixxy's production when the RB/JB labels started. i just didn't really like it. the kick drums sounded like they'd been flattened by steamrollers, and the feel was basically sped-up trance... like what was the deal with the 'hardcore' rip of 'no alternative'???? his stuff was getting slower and in my honest opinion (so don't flame me for it), quite boring.
his productions do seem to be picking up again though, and even hixxy himself has said that he hates the sound of his first three raver baby releases and would love to go back and redo them sometime (though he probably won't).
so in answer to your question clair, i agree that hixxy had a period there where he lost the favour of some, but when you're taking the risky step of bringing new elements to hardcore (as he did with sped up trance), you're sure to lose a few fans.
drugs is not the answer... drugs? is the question... yes is the answer

and for the record hixxy hasn't gone downhill but he seriously needs to get a new kickdrum for his tunes and like pacman said,big up the guy for trying out a new sound
