well, in my opinion it's hard to say, i wasn't a fan of hixxy for a long time during the early trance style of his ( B-trax etc) but you know what, you don't see me up there with my own label so heh, i'm gonna shut right up. But yes he definaeley needs to get a new kickdrum, it's more like a thud or thump than what it should be. He should've experiment with his old on he used during the antisocial days

cheers

Well i think you need to differentiate between hixxy as a producer and hixxy as a dj. I was lucky enough to see hixxy dj 3 nights ago in my home town and he blew the roof off!!!! He played a two hour set and strangely enough the first 45 minutes was german trance!!!! and then onto the hardcore. His set was full of energy and had a perfect selection (IMO). His set was one of the best live sets i have ever heard and think is only getting better as a dj!

However as a producer it depends on what style of hardcore you like i suppose. I fyou do not enjoy the trancy style of hardcore then u obviously will not like hixxys recent production in the past few years. However that doesnt mean to say that he has gone downhill, does it? No not at all. I think hixxy prouduction (in fact all of hardcore) has got millions of times better when comparing to '95-98 hardcore. I admit he uses a lot of the same sounds in most of his songs lately, so maybe he needs to go in a new direction. But then gain most of scott browns produced tracks sound the same to me .

Anyways hixxy is at the top of his game and there aint no denying that!

Hixxy is like a idol to alot of us, with the bonkers albums and all that stuff
(well he is for me) but him and the raver baby crew need to change that ****in bassline! its allways the same, same with the kick drums!!
Smetimes, if I mix a RB tune into another RB tune, I get a flanger effect because the drums are the same, its is really annoying!

Other than that, think he is doing a good job.

I don’t mean to be rude, it just come naturally

Yah! finally, now i can back up my theroy, Hixxy IS getting into Hard German Trance..A bit wired i know, but hes where i said it.

http://www.happyhardcore.com/forums/topic.asp?whichpage=6&TOPIC_ID=4850

As for Hixxy's change in style so on, his move to trance was succesful, cheeze had to change, and he gained alot of followers.

Im not saying that I rather Trancecore over cheese, just stating the facts.
But as usually I will be most proberly be proven wrong with that big head of mine

I think that the new trancy hardcore is a welcome addition to the scene. It just adds a bit of variety. Nothing wrong with that is there. some like it and some dont!!!

hixxy is the bollox.

hes a true hardcore legend, and the only genuine thing anyone has against him is the 'trancey' tunes of late, but thats how the scene as a whole is at the minute.
i can see why ppl dont like it, but i think most of its pretty good to be honest.
and his actual production of tunes has always been top drawer.

big up the hixxy!!!

right, what hixxy has produced recently has not been sped up trance, its had trance synths and a bit of a trance feel, but the differences really outweigh the similarities. if you want to hear true "trancecore" have a listen to the new dougal and gammer tune "paradise,"

EVERYTHING about this tune, save the speed, is trance, it honestly makes most of the rb and jb stuff sound like real hardcore

no diss to dougal an gammer, i love ther stuff, but even jenna's vocals are trance on the song, and shes done some of the best hardcore vocals of recent times.

hixxy IS getting slower live however, as are dougal, styles, breeze and a few utha people. UFO is the dj to watch, as while he plays all the trancier hardcore, he puts togetha a wikkid set, keeps it a good speed, and has good technical ability

"don't worry about it, if i were you i wouldn't remember me either"

hehe yup, clearly a big hixxy fan with 2 much time on her hands!

I've been a fan of Hixxy since I was 11 back in 1995/6 after hearing bonkers and a few dreamscape tapes!

To me he has always stood out from everyone else, back in 1998 to 2000 when he played pitched up trance (chakra - love shines through, RMB - spring to name a few songs) and hardcore from coutries like Germany made me think he made more effort than other DJs just playing straight UK hardcore.

Recomended Hixxy tapes are:

Helter Skelter - Nightlife (May 1999)
Helter Skelter - The Awakening (February 2001)
Dreamscape 21

But there are loads more.

Dave!

i think hixxy is a champion......as far as hardcore goes i think he is on the softer side....you could almost say hard hard house or something...but the tunes he playes are wikid.......i plan on getting every copy of bonkers with him in it......i dont know if he is in everyone.

but anyway he is one cool mother f*$%#r and if i was female i would have his baby
