Switchback posted this on Facebook, and I gotta say, when even Sharkey doesn't really like the "modern mc's", things have gotten out of hand yea?

Good to know he has time to do an interview and none to finish off his artist album he promised.
Regardless of that, what he said about MCs these days is spot on. Certain MCs seemed to have overshadowed the popularity of a lot of the DJs, and I for one don't like it.
And that reminds me MC Static was booked to MC for one of Sharkey's set, and it was a freeform set of all things. Static went on FB and apologized for having an off night since he didn't recognize the music as well. But there were some people that said it was more Sharkey's fault that he was screwing the mic volume on Static.

Are there any new MC's with the style he is suggesting? I can't see how they would be made to fit in.
"He doesn't rhyme, why should I have him on my flyer?"
It's spot on what he's saying as well, I've been saying it for years. MC's banging on about themselves and their struggles in life, growing up in the violent ghettos, they'll stab you if you think otherwise etc etc. Imagine doing rhymes like that to something like Techno Wonderland or Toytown? You're Shining or Come Running? Obviously there's more bassy, 'urban' sounding hardcore that is suited to this style, and the EDM drivel of course, but it's supposed to be uplifting, feel good music to have a fun time to.
The likes of Charly B and Junior were hardly the most sophisticated of MCs but I'd sooner hear their style before, as Sharkey says, 64-bar rhymes of self indulgent bollocks.

It's nice to hear someone being real rather than the fake wannabe's that you get most of the time. Sad thing for me is that I only recognised one person on the intro for the video and that was Sharkey.

Either the camera light was too bright, or Sharkey has taken something before :P

Obie MC walks in, does an hour, and he's off. Doesn't engage with fans or DJ's.
MC's can manipulate promoters and even how tracks are produced. They can have a producer take out vocals from parts of tracks so they have bars to chat over.
The biggest poison is Storm.
But anyway, there's a lot of questions you could has him. I guess his views on Hardcore now are probably the reason.
And it is formulaic. Big labels try and be professional and all this nonsense (even though they fall over their own lack of organization) and try too hard. I miss Sharkey because he did inject a 'fun' element. Labels that filled his vacuum failed to achieve what he did massively.

And he is one of the best engineers, unless he didn't engineer his own stuff. In which case he is one of the best producers.

I don't engage with the ravers?
You having a laugh, I'm probably one of the most down to earth MC in the top circuit at the moment. I'll host the set when asked, I never moan at the DJ for any track played and I will do anything to make sure ravers have a good time.
You say I do an hour and leave? The only time I would do that is if I have another gig, have to drive the 3+ hours home to work on art for a promoter / DJ / label or if I have to be home to look after my daughter.
If I don't stop to speak to someone I'm usually in a rush to get home for those reasons or my social awkwardness has kicked.
Be nice to know when I have come and gone like you said just out of interest.

I was gonna say when I saw this yesterday man - you couldn't be more wrong on this one.
This is coming from someone who has probably seen him once in his life so yea it's obviously wrong.
Obie is always very social when he comes over to Toronto. And he usually stays for the entire event as well. Before Toronto I've only seen him at HTID ITS 2012 but I didn't get a chance to meet him because I honestly did not know who the hell he was at the time lol. So can't speak if he was social there.
