So I decided to write a blog very much off the back of Gammer's. It's my first attempt at anything like this and non of my thoughts are particularly groundbreaking. Anyway, see what you think!

I want to voice my opinion, but must remember that I'm still trying to make a name for myself in this God forsaken scene. A scene where positive relationships is a must ;)

Especially agree with the point about numbers/popularity (despite what Ajay thinks).
Loads and loads of events plus half decent attendance does NOT mean everything is brilliant again. Better, but nowhere near where it could be. More new ravers needed - and soon!

The idea that DS playing EDC "helps" hardcore would have been an amusing conversation three years ago.
If we want a "scene" then surely the leading lights have to participate in it? Otherwise it's....... claiming a genre and leads precisely nowhere.
Well, that's what clubland became *well* before this particular conversation.
Commercial DJs playing TWR tracks has *nothing* to do with hardcore. It's not like the start of the series when there was stuff alluded to (to *find* and *retain*)
From where I'm sitting, it's gone full circle far faster than I hoped. The dip was obvious, despite my obvious warnings and interventions, but I figured we might get ahead of it. In a year where we claimed various technical firsts (Blu-ray! Multichannel! Pro mastering! Crowdfunding! High res audio! TV advertising!) the most important thing apparently is that a few of someones mates allowed a high tempo presence in their lusted after wonderland. Hooooooooo-ray. I notice the Gareth Emery track we cleared wasn't worth mentioning, even if it *was* this year.
I can't say this clearly enough: The leading lights of the scene actually want to leave it. It's currently an easy option, it's a claimable genre, but their actual interest in it is so low that anyone investing in their leadership needs to seriously question wtf they are thinking.
Feel free to point at the last few years of their remarkable stewardship as opposition.
I'm sure "jealousy" will be mooted as an explanation for my reaction. No, we've tried to do the right thing so many times I've chafed from it. If you can't reply to an e-mail from HU in 8 months you clearly don't give a shit about the genre you inhabit.
I'll give it another year, swimming against a tide of self entitled ********, like any/every other, but that's it.

Can you clarify what exactly you mean by "the TWR sound"? Are you referring to big-room/Melbourne Bounce-style hardcore or the watered-down stuff that's still melodic? Or both? :P

Oh, and in ironic news, I insisted on Enemy for the Blu ray. For the project, the night was factored in, but dear *deity here* he did an amazing job.
Chwhynny hates Mcs, and sat backstage saying he was ace. Prancing on Uk stages repeating things people know is one thing; engaging with a potentially hostile crowd in the U.S and winning so hard I am willing to talk about it is something else.
I won't let F&D play any major gig without him.
UK Hardcore doesn't *need* MCs, per se, but we've accidently found a differentiator. Not all, just some. I saw it at HTID USA, if you want a long term sceptic... hi. This said, balance in all things. LatinXTC you hate MCS, wasn't he actually great?

You made a valid point on DS at EDC. It's been 3 years and I haven't seen the massive growth people keep talking about that was going to happen with his first appearance. Yes there is now an HTID USA, but from what I've been hearing that event has been something HTID has been trying to do for many years now. And also people thought he was so crucial in the success of this year's first HTID USA Weekender, and that was a load of shit because it was massive! No one missed him except for excessive fanboy cunts who believe he HAS to be everywhere. There were plenty of DJs already throwing down some DS tracks so that was enough.
And I also agree that there are certain producers that definitely want to leave hardcore, but I think they're trying to take their hadcore fanbase with them. Heaven forbid they have to start from scratch in another genre without any backing. So they're trying to take what they can from this genre by watering down the hardcore with something else.

MC Enemy w/ Fracus & Darwin at HTID USA was immense. He seemed familiar with the music. He was so frickin on point. The energy & vibes during that set was something else. MC Enemy made the experience all the more better. I don't know how to explain it haha. I wish I could relive that set over & over again. Ohwait, there's a Blu Ray of it ;)

But as far as me hating MCs??? Yes, but not completely. I love how they're utilized in Dutch/gabber hardcore and hardstyle, they're there to hype up the crowd and not for their own greedy stage presence. And MC Enemy did EXACTLY that at HTID USA Weekender, he just hyped up the crowd and kept his rhymes to a minimum. This is EXACTLY what I wish more happened on the HU Live At Rehab, instead of Whizzkid all over the fucking place and then Wotsee and Frickshon trainwrecking more the longer that mix progressed.
Don't get me wrong, as a person I think MC Enemy is a major douchebag with what he posts on facebook, crying over people illegally downloading his album with Mob but talking about how he loves to download and stream movies, making fun of a girl for constantly complaining about how she can't lose wait, and other asshole things, but as an MC if he's able to perform this way at US events, then I am all for it.
I still think MC Obie is a far better MC than Enemy and as a person I love the dude. But I imagine you want MC Enemy more because he's the better eye candy...
