i dont understand why dj stylus' thread was locked.
what is wrong with wanting to know the origin of a tune? how would you feel if you were at a trance board, and someone was asking for the orig of all these hardcore turned pop tunes, then you see they are not alowed to discuss it?
if they dont want people to copy their tunes, maybe they should write their own lyrics.
Oh man, I hope I didn't brain my damage...

Silver said in another topic that the artists get angry about it . . .
Thing is, they have no right to IMO.

the thing is this:
some artists try really hard to find some really good obscure track so that people won't think of it as a rip-off, and therefore credit the hardcore producer (eg, eyeopener, or to put it in the context of why the thread was locked, sunrise). the producers in this case want the credit for finding the rare track and don't want anyone else finding it to have access to it. i don't think it's fair or moral for artists to claim credit to work by stopping people finding out that they ripped the tune!
that's why.

I get pressured from the hardcore labels and artists not to allow those types of posts. For the reason that Pacman said, and the fact that if it's using an unlicenced sample then we dont want it poping up in a search engine or something and then I get hammered from a major label to release information on the artist, which I dont want to do.
So how do I make everyone happy while staying neutral in the argument? Dont post those questions, no problems from anyone.

alright, i was just curious as to why it is an illegal subject. now i know, altho i don't agree with it.
they should not take credit for other people's work, and they should not use un liscenced material. all in my opinion of course...
call me old fashioned, but i believe an artist should be creative, and write their own stuff. :)

It's not illegal... If the track is licenced like Punk from UFO is on JellyBaby then it is fine to talk about.

It is a shame in my oppinion, as I love finding the originals, and have found some great artists by doing so. And have become quite good at naming the originals. But if the powers above say it is not to be on this forum, then that is a rule we shall all have to stick by. At the end of the day, I'm sure none of us want to get the hardcore artists in trouble, and possibly end up losing them from our scene forever.

I agree! I've loved doing this and it's such a rush to go, "Oh man! That's where this song came from!" Same with Scott's rap samples.

A tip if you like finding the original.... instead of posting in here "what sample did he use in that track?" just head over to google and stick some of the lyrics in. 90% of the time it will come up with the original!
