Point of note: you can download the SWF player. However, you cannot take mp3's from that SWF :) the files are streamed in a format completely proprietary to Flash (RTMP).

tru
anyway this is going to be all unsiged talent is it not? so i for one dont really care if ppl want to download my stuff (presuming im fortunate enough to have any of my work chosen!) and share it about all over the place... for the moment.
i mean thats basicly why ur letting ppl listen for free? to spread the love as it were lol
only thing id worry about is if my name stayed on it or not!

When the front and back doors are both locked, wait until somebody is cmonig out of the house to break in
OK, a pretty pathetic analogy, but basically you CAN get the audio in a way that doesn't involve grabbing an mp3. Its not that hard either. No streaming audio format is safe from ripping

*OFFICIAL UPDATE*
Please contact me off-forum (PM, email, IM) if you are interested in:
1) Spinning a disc!
2) Contributing original production to the project!
Contest Entries Deadline for ORIGINAL PRODUCTION Round 1:
December 15th!
PLEASE TELL ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS AND ACQUANTAINCES! I am giving a 2 month deadline so that new producers can put the finishing touches on tracks, or so that people can create entirely new tracks! Please note: if you have a track 75% done, you can be put in a special catagory of unfinished tracks, and will get a "buy" in the contest. PLEASE NOTE: This neither secures a position in round 2, nor gets other people out of the contest. Unfinished work will be in a seperate catagory!
Contest Entried Deadline for UNSIGNED DJS Round 1:
November 15th!
PLEASE TELL ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS AND ACQUANTAINCES! The deadline is one month to submit the best, most technical, and appealing mix that you can muster! You can choose any variety of music from any 160+BPM genre (including hardcore breaks, which is just intrinsically slower).
MIXES WILL BE VOTED ON NOVEMBER 16!!!
Thanks for all the support guys! Feel free to PM me for my MSN address, or just look in my profile

Two months seems a decent time to get tracks in and filter the good one's out. Just in time for christmas.
What concerns me a little though is that if this album is going to be "free", why no download. If you think back to not so long ago, CLSM released their album online for free and it never did them any harm.

Then if your such a smart arse mr.underloop Then why not do that yourself so you can play it on your ipod (Hey, your trustworfy, Right?)
But the fact is, What are the chance of someone ripping a flash file?
I'm Not Saying No One Will... I'm Just Pointing Out The Blatant...
What is more likly to get riped!
a) A Flash SWF File
b) An MP3 AUDIO FILE!!!!
See What I'm saying

I could well do that. The point being that (as a consumer) I'd be less likely to check out more products in the future. What I'm saying is that you would lose custom because your being awkward.
Look at all the copy protection stuff going on with CDs. Less sales on copy protected. Fair enough, less piracy too (although to the best of my knowledge all protected CDs to date HAVE been ripped and are available on various P2P sites) BUT legitimate sales are down from legitimate purchasers because they can't copy them to their ipod etc. Kind of defeats what I thought the whole aim of this project was

A great idea but I do agree with the people saying that it should be available for free download. If it's "entirely unsigned talent" then I very much doubt that the producers will have a problem with this... Sure they might be giving away tracks for nothing but exposure is the most important thing at that stage surely.
Most people "myself included" don't have the time to sit and listen to long internet streams.

Not trying to be funny but anybody could simply use a sound editing program and simply record what plays through there pc then save as wav, mp3 or any other format. This means they would be able to copy to cd for free anyway.
If the cd is unsigned talent I would of thought the artists would be looking more towards exposure than money. I think it should be done as a free download in mp3 format.

So we should go RFUGrey on this one and just release MP3s? I'm fine with whatever everyone wants to do! The reason I'm not just "doin this my way, or by myself" is because I truely want this album to be successful, and I don't think thats possible without the heavy involvement of the movers and shakers of the scene. But yeah, you've definatly convinced me that we should do MP3's I mean, hey, RFUGrey is doin it!

id do it as CD length mixed MP3's and include CUE files for burning the mp3s to cds with track splits.
that would be the best way imo :)
