In a time when Napster was big, I downloaded a tune that MADE me dance. It was very bouncy and I believe got me addicted to Happy Hardcore altogether.
Scott Brown is KING with his version of Interstate's LOST GENERATION.....still my favorite and have been trying to get my hands on the 12" vinyl. One of these days!!!

first tape i heared was a vibes n livelee hysteria tape in 96 off one of my bros mates or summat (cant remember!) - fell in love straight off like... i remember hearing 'dune - cant stop raving' and being all inspired lol.... but not entirely blown over as i was only about 10! by 98 i was in comprehensive school n a couple of my mates older brothers done pills n liked the happiest hardcore available (ha ha - a little questionable but they do together in so many situations) and i nicked a Sy tape off this lad called Ben and it had every classic i can think of on it... most memrobally Phase & Sniper - Fantasy (yes greatest song EVER) and of course it had shooting star, heart of gold and all em on it too but id heard them already just not known what they were really in local clubs ... but after hearing Fantasy i knew hardcore was for me!!!!!!

Well, I was heavily into KONAMI's Dance Dance Revolution gaming series a few years back. From that, I became really interested in the music featured in that game, the Dancemania series. I colleceted every single album. One night I was listening to "Dancemania SPEED presents HAPPY RAVERS." It was very happy, fun, bouncey, and everything cheezey and good. I later found out that the entire CD was by the Next Generation / Blatant Beats crew, it had their mascots on the cover of the CD itself!
I think the song I really was lovin' at the time was "Stealth - Love Life Happiness." It was just awesome, still is! So yep, that rare imported CD from japan was my first happy hardcore CD, and all of the Next Gen / Blatant Beat songs got me into hardcore.

^^^ The Dancemania series has nothing to do with the game DDR.... I don't know why all the DDR lovers think they are related.

I originaly got into hardcore around '92 through pop rave stuff like LA Style's 'James Brown is Dead', the breakbeat 'Tetris' track Human Resource's 'Dominator' and Alpha Team's 'Speed Racer'.
Then i heard everything on Speed Limt 140+ v.1 w/all the early Moving Shadow, Urban Shakedown, Production House and Ibiza stuff (c.1993) and was hooked for life. The first 'proper' (post-94) HH tune I remember ever hearing was Bass D & King Matthew's remix of Like a Prayer (c.1995).
The first real live happy hardcore DJ (playing post-94 stuff) I ever heard was DJ Phil Free Art, but there was a lot of chicago DJs in th early 90s (DJ Hyperactive, Terry Mullen--if you can belive it) playing early rave music at 'juice bar' clubs and such.

Yes it does.
A lot of the songs featured on DDR are liscenced via those CDs. When there is any liscenced song on DDR, it comes from one of the Dancemania series CDs and even says so on the game itself (Saint Goes Marching for example has a, "Dancemania Speed 4" logo on it). That is what Toshiba-Emi's Dancemania series has to do with DDR.
