it does help if they're injured, although blood for sharks is alot more important. when sharks attack body boarders it is beacause they mistake them for injured animals.

I posted this knowing full well of all the other cruelty that goes on, i just felt strongly about this seen as i own 2 dogs and a cat and i am very fond of them. I used to be a Vegetarian so i do know how hypocritical this sounds..but as i said it was one subgenre i felt strongly about and decided to make a post about it. My dad and his ex girlfriend are Vegetarians and i think shes even turned vegan now she keeps abandoned chickens in her back yard too... and a turkey.. anyway...

i do believe that is bias, shouldn't you be appauled at any creulty to animals and not just the ones you like? every little thing you do has many consequences that you don't ever realise. so you stop eating meat and your consumption of cereals, vegetables, fruit etc skyrocket. they predict that for every pound of cereal collected 2-3 shrews, mice, doormouses etc are killed. so say your cereal consumption triples from about 30 pounds a year to 90-100 that is instead of killing 60-90 you kill over 200. not much on a personal scale but expand it globally and hundreds of millions more die. those extra 60-70 pounds of cereal a year equatate to about half maybe 3/4 of a cow (i know a cow weighs alot more but we'll go ahead and take out the weight of the bits that are just scrapped)
we won't take into consideration all the animals that are killed by the farmers to ensure there stock isn't eaten aswell and the damage pesticides and artificial fertilisers will do for the extra demand for their products
not attacking you personally here pixiesticks, sorry if it is coming off that way, just the hypocricy of the majority of vegetarians and vegans (at least near me). they believe they're some sort of hero for saving like 20 animals a year but don't realise that they're not solving the problem just displacing it onto other creatures and that they seemingly ignore facts that prove them wrong. hell i was speaking to one and the topic got onto fishing and the vegan said he enjoyed it and that he used maggots, worms and dead bait to fish, how isn't that hypocritcal?
people need to realise that for every little action there are millions of reprocutions that occur due to them and that these cannot be controlled. that is my philosophy anyways

Cats and dogs used as shark bait? Seeing the link and the pic of the dog made me feel phisically sick! You can definatly count on me to sign the petition.
I have 2 dogs and 2 cats. I just can't imagine doing that. I really do feel sick now after seeing that picture.
On another note, i do eat meat. I think it's importaint to a balanced diet. My cousin is a vegitarian however, and i think thats fine. I just couldn't do it. Don't judge me for that. I know that not eating meat would hardly make a difference.
I know theres no sure way to find out how good a life the animals had before they were killed and even how they were killed. I only eat free range eggs though. :) Thats something.
*edit*

I do agree with this, but my whole post was just to put the petition onto the forum lol.. and i agree it is biased. ive grown up with my dog and i see it as if anybody ever harmed my dog etc.. I just thought that its cruel they use them live... as ive seen how bad a dog reacts just stepping on his foot! I didnt really think when i posted this, it was more of a spur of the moment thing because of it being me..Heh I usually come across as a babbling idiot so this is kind of a step up for me What i think id really like to say is people will be people and will always eat meat.. But why do we have to kill them in the most inhumane ways possible? Fair enough killing them in the first place is inhumane but if i said that i m against it id be an even bigger hypocrite when i sit down and eat my food. Anywho my teeth hurt and im ill so ill stop rambling on :P and go lay down

I'll eat soy products and rice milk isn't too bad, but tofu is f*cking nasty
hey dont be dissin the tofu
but i can't decide whether or not to sign the pettition. I have always lived with 2 or more am\nimals in the house so automatically im against it, but i also try to take a step outside and see the overall aspect. If people are trying to make a living doing it then i can see their side too. NOw if some one were to propose another more humane idea for the bait then i'd be all for the signing.

i do feel it is very inhumane, however i didn't sign the petition as they will only use some other animal to fish for the sharks. what people find appauling about it is not that the animal cruelty (if they had ran it with some fish being tortured to fish for them no-one would have cared) but the choice of animal, just with the cats and dogs is that it strikes close to home

no one seems to care about the poor earthworm, cricket, or minnow when they get cast into a lake to be fed upon by a fish...but when it's an animal that we would consider a house pet, then it becomes an issue.
never had horse meat, but the usda is promoting us to eat it...along with goats. goat meat btw is really good, I like it almost as much as lamb =P
