Alright, there's enough scene hating on here to choke a camel... especially from 95_was_the_time and UKr4ver. Right, so you're upset with the way things are going. It's understandable. Not everyone is going to like "sissified pop dance music". Neither do I. But I don't moan about it. I just don't listen to it. If it really bothers you that much, MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Here's my challenge to you:
-Go out and get some production software and learn how to use it.
-If you can't find the time, MAKE the time. There are plenty of us producers out there that sometimes go without sleep to get our tunes done. If you can't take it, you're obviously not "hardcore" or whatever it is that you kids are saying these days.
-Make some fcuking hard-ass tunes and send out some demos to the labels you think might pick it up. (There are plenty of smaller labels out there that would love some kicks+breaks tunes, so don't fret 95_was_the_time)
Right. Sounds easy.
When you get your record out, then you've made a difference and you'll have contributed to the scene. Fcuk things up from the inside, and whatnot. Until then, stop moaning because you're not doing yourself any favors.
*EDIT* This all applies to DJs as well. If you don't like the way a certain DJ sounds, don't listen. Just don't go slating them and what they do for a living. If you want the kind of music you like to be heard, buy a pair of decks, do some record shopping and start learning how to match beats.
It basically boils down to this:
IF YOU DON'T CONTRIBUTE TO THE SCENE, YOU DON'T HAVE A RIGHT TO COMPLAIN. And if you do contribute to the scene, well you shouldn't be complaining in the first place as you're already doing your part to change things for the better.

Well said mate. And I would take you up on that challenge, but I don't have enough money to buy production equipment. :(

There's plenty of freeware VST hosts, plugins, and sequencers mate. They may not be as flashy or expensive as the big ones, but they work just as well and you might even be able to come up with something at least worth sending off to an engineer.
Go to http://www.kvr-vst.com/ and do a search for only the free software.

That's hardly the spirit, is it? You can't just pick something up and automatically know how to use it. It takes time. Perseverence. Where you fail you must inevitably learn something valuable. Keep trying and use your new knowledge each time to push the boundaries and forward yourself. If all of us gave up when we ran into a problem there wouldn't be any music at all. Everyone would just look at their equipment and go "**** me that looks too hard."

Fruity Loops is hard to learn at first. I started doing mashups last week and started to get the hang out it. It just takes time to learn. just grab the demo and teach yourself if you really want to learn you'll teach yourself and plus there is a million different sites on how to learn all these programs. We NEED more producers coming out with new stuff. SB, Breeze and Styles all of them are great for awhile then song after song of the same forumla gets tiring. It all comes down to your creativity. YOU know what YOU want to hear, so make what YOU think is a quailty tune, post it and I bet atleast 1 out of 20,000 members will think it is quailty

Does it matter that you're from Australia? There's soon to be an Australian version of Bonkers. The Australian scene is picking up. I'm from America and I've managed to get some releases out (well, forthcoming). It doesn't matter where you're from, just grab a copy of Fruityloops or Cubase or Logic or whatever you want to learn and then get some VST instruments and off you go!
There are some lovely tutorial threads on USH.net that will help you out. Get on the forums at KVR-VST.com and ask questions. If you have passion for it, you will inevitably be met with success somewhere down the line. Just don't give up trying. You're the ones who can make a difference in the scene.

Audacity.sourceforge.com - it is a free recording program. It is a nice program to record vocals and mess with the EQ in there.
fruityloops.com - then click Try Out and you get a free demo with no time limit on it you just can't save it and go back later.
fltutorials.com - it will teach you everything you need to know about Fruity Loops to get started.
You can search for a ton more plug ins, VST, different programs, etc and get even more involved with your songs. All that is left is your creativity to create it and the time to learn it. It takes alot of time to get this stuff down. If i remember correctly Apollo only uses FL 5 and look at all the great stuff he created. and like I said before WE NEED more producers that are willing to do something new.
PS. if you do use FL 5 remember, you can use the keyboard, as well, A KEYBOARD. and Q is the C5 note.
