congrats again sliver,

I anybody suprised that raverbaby won? They are by far the most popular sound going around at the moment and the only reason why you would not expect them the get it is the amount of releases they actully have had. They have released 8 records in the past 10 months, that not fantastic but its not too bad. Their list of unreleased tracks is what makes it look bad.

Maybe its a very smart marketing ploy and if it is, its sure working. Only 2 labels have released more in the Evolution and Next Generation (what i voted for). Evo's tracks have been shit.

Thing is - to your average raver, Hixxy, Breeze, Styles, Raver Baby etc are what they think of when it comes to hardcore so it's obvious they'll get the majority of the votes. The results do fairly represent what's popular in the scene at the present time (even if i don't agree with most of them)

Ask the people who go to somewhere like Total Bedlam or Elation and the results would have been a lot different.

I'm suprised no ones mentioned anyone from from Nu Energy. The stuff they've been putting out this year is awesome, much better tunes than anything from any other label IMO

I didn't vote for Raverbaby or Breeze and Styles and wouldn't if my life depended on it but I think part of their sucess would has been down to all the comercial chart stuff making them more well known and some 'new ravers' think hardcre is a 'better' version of dance music think more of them than many of the other producers and Djs who have been doing a lot more different stuff

Just seen this on USH from Scott Brown.

quote:

Where do I start...

First of all apologies to all who went to see me and I didn't turn up. I had set time problems at the emporium in Coalville and Sharkey didn't show up (as far as I know) so I had to play a much longer set than anticipated, pushing my whole night back.

As for the awards.... What can I say. When a label wins an award for releasing 6 records in a year rather than labels such as Next Gen, Quosh, Nu Energy who consistently release good material... Don't you find that a big shame, or is it just purely indicative of the mentality of the people in our scene? Was it any coincidence that all the new RBC releases came out at the same time as the Slammin voting system was announced? Sorry to Hixxy if I've pissed you off here but you know my feelings about this.

Congrats to all the winners, but please, don't vote for me or my labels next year. I don't need a piece of plastic to tell me that I'm good at my job. (This is no dig at Slammin who I've always had a good relationship with).

Thanks to all who voted for me, although I think you honestly voted in vain.

I've probably pissed a few people off saying this, but I'm only telling the truth. It's a sentiment going through the whole hardcore scene I'm afraid.

Cheers guys...

Scott

I'm glad Scott Brown didn't turn up as the room he was due to play in the sound was awful and it would have been embarassing for a such top Dj as him.

Kat
