The question begs, musically (hardcore of course) which year would you rather be growing up in? (18 years of age)
1996

96 anyday for me wish i was born 10 years earlier, meaning i'dve started raving in 1990 and got decks in 93.
Then would have 10 years of buyin all the best vinyls and really seeing music grow. 92-94 english breaks and 93-97 for scottish/dutch bouncy techno and gabba.
Then along with that the trance revolution happening from about 96 onwards.
Everything was still released on vinyl back then, drugs were better and rez, helter skelter and everything still going strong.
It's still good now and i make the most of it but the lack of vinyl releases i like and the main style at the big raves means it's a very easy choice for me to make.

agreed i've never heard anything like a raverbaby tune in a trance arena, freeform and hard dance are quite similar just i think freeform tends to have more imagination.
i love raving and make the most of what i've got but looking back at videos of the big events of early to mid 90's it looks unreal.
*Edit
wheres evel at anyway, was expecting his eyes to pop out at a chance to tell us how solid the old beats were

3) aye man aint seen that 95 guy for a while, evel will be here by tomorrow he wont be able to resist

One month into 2006 Hardcore still hasn't shown me much so i'm going with 1996 coz of the beats, the techno and the imagniation and speed that came with it. Also there were more double decker buses on the road in '96, less chavs and everyone had their hair in 'curtains' (well guys did) I'm 18 now and would love to go back to 1996.
But for nearly 3 weeks now I ahve been going out with my girlfriend, which is far better than anything in 1996 (Unless I could take her back in time with me lol)
Oh, and I bet in 1996 everyone was nice to each other and always held the door open for you lol
