Don't think it will get all that more popular meself, but, if it gets more coverage, you never know...
It wont die out, but it could do with a bit more time underground to do it good. If that happens, we can come back stronger than ever.

Yyyyeeeessss..... Incubate it in the Underground until it's ripe for world domination!!! Mwwwaahahahhaaahha!!! I see it now, HHC growing into a huge supraluminous beast, bursting from the earth, and destroying those pesky power rangers. Then it can devour the secondary targets like: Tight jeans, Garage, Anti-Rave t-shiets, Deep house, PMA, all the governments of the world, and Barny (He is truely evil!!!).
Ahhh... It WILL BE a glorious rebirth!!! ^_^

In the next few years, i think Drum N Bass will still be underground and so will Jungle/Techstep/Hardstep/Darkstep/Weirdstep,etc.. but Happy Hard Might Return with a Vengeance!!
Ahhh... It WILL BE a glorious rebirth!!! ^_^

I believe hardcore will become massive as long as we can keep it credable. I think that it was the "happy" element that made people lose respect for it. Although i still love bopping to DJ Vibes playin all the cheese in the old skool arena.

On the contrary, i think it was an excellent post do dig up because its now 5 years later from when the first person posted, and we can see where it actually is now, which is more than he clearly could have ever expected!
I think its cool :P

It most certainly hasn't died out in five years, nor do I see it dying out in the next five.
I'd like to see how it evolves in the next five years. I see plenty of potential in the freeform genre...

I have to agree with youngson, where has the happy element gone? There are not that many true happy hardcore songs coming out anymore. To me it sounds more like a "clube style" of hardcore. Its good but definitely not what happy hardcore use to be. Its ok though, everything evolves.

Happyhardcore needs to change its sound to grow, at least in Australia. Back when i started raving, happyhardcore is what most people got into and many sets were played during the night. However, the younger crowd nowdays are leaning towards electro and the like. The crowds at the major hardcore parties is not growing and are down on what they used to be. The smaller parties are the same but to a much greater degree of difference. I stopped buying newskool hardcore a while back, only getting the older stuff. There are some electro sounds coming into hardcore tracks and it is good to see. I only hope that producers will develop this sound and further new sounds rather than the pedictable trancey sound.

freeformation genre will be popular.
But for happy hardcore, needs to get back that 90's sound... but you can't really bring back the past with the same affect. There really isn't hardly any happy hardcore artists about now-a-days still producing the style. Some of you may correct me, but i don't beleive todays stuff what you hear on say a bonkers cd is happy hardcore... it's just the freeformation genre what is called 'Hardcore/UK Hardcore'.
Even though people like Scott brown, marc smith, hixxy, sharkey, Charly Lownoise, Mental Theo, Paul Elstak and many more are still about... They are mostly producing different genre of music.
