I'd say no-one has the power to kill a scene by listening to the music or going to the raves, only tar it & the rave scene with a stereotypical brush, also I think that so-called "chavs" and "rudeboys" are totally different things, only linked by the style of dress. Most sports-clothes or burberry wearing mateys I've met are sound, it's just the rude-boys with attitude which you need to look out for, in which case the Drum & Bass scene suffers from this outbreak much more.
If you're worried about what people will think of you because of who else listens to this style of music, then you're obviously willing to abandon it due to that, & are not "True Hardcore"
In any case this topic is on fire now & I don't want to give the person who didnt even bother to comment before writing "discuss...." the satisfaction of making it any bigger!

I resent that last comment. It isn't a religon god be praised, it is however a way of life. It is more than a night out else why am i sat at a pc listening to the radio typing this reply?
I am 32 but anything but an elite w*nker. I have seen many people come into the scene and leave it. I think youth and experience are as valuble as each other.
I enjoy raving with 14 and 15 year olds as much as my older old skool raver mates. Age in this scene is irrelevant. I cannot pretend I am younger than I am nor can I take back what I have experienced ( nor would I ).
The fact that the scene survived so many difficult times is something many of us older ravers should quite rightly feel proud of. However if we look down on younger people we will destroy the scene. The younger element brings in new energy and they in turn will create something new with what they have and I for one will continue to listen.
It is quite right to recognise chavs were not around in the early 90s. However some of the styles are now used by people one may refer to as a chav, like hoodies.
Some people are thick some are bright that don't bother me I will talk to youa all the same. Some are nasty some are nice that's far more important. Its not old vs young, it real vs blag.
personally I don't like dodgy blaggin scum.
I want friendly happy faces and if that's in side a hoodie or burberry cap so much the better.
I love people who take a stereo-type, build it, that shatter it.
That's intelligence
That's hardcore
Remember its nice to be important but more important to be nice
Scooter I think....and they wear leather jackets...discuss

Yeah that's right, I'm retarded, atleast I can ****ing spell, just look at your name, do you work for HSBC? Oh and raving since I was in nappies? You're about three years older than me, not exactly old skool. How can you sit there and call me a chav? My big toe makes less grammatical errors than you, got about a squillion different emoticons on your msn account no doubt...
I'm not sticking up for chavs, if they cause trouble then fair enough, **** them... but when there's a leetist stood in the corner whining because someone with a pair of trackies walks in then its that ignorant fool who should be shown the door, not the random you don't know who's probably out to have a good time.
