http://happyhardcore.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=29827&whichpage=3
I ended the topic aswell i have a funny way of doing that

As for... "No chavs in 1992"... B^llshit There was chavs around in my grans years...

Ever herd the term "Yobs" before...
Same thing aplys... Simply just aplys for "SCUM!" people that Thrive on "trobble" and see it as a form of "fun" - mostly cuse they have nothing better to do!

and i can't stress enough... CHAV IS NOT A DRESS TREND!
Nither is "Skater" for that matter... Skateboarding is a passion & an escape of mine... but if you called me a "greebo", Then i'd have to kill you!

Honestly how old are you guys... you sould of stopped this sterotypng shit when you left school...

A chav simply means... Bad Attuide or volient!
Its not really hard to spot one either... if you see someone walking down the road with a pegleg... giving everyone dirty looks!
Then... *SHOCK HORROR!!!* something clicks in your little head of yours telling you "this guys looking for trobble!"
Therefore... you cross the road and stay out of there way - ITS HUMAN INSTINK!!!

lol I've lost count of how many times I've explained that lol ^^^^

As for chavs "killing the scene"...
hummm... well take away all the "E" from a rave... give everyone alcohol...
...and I'm telling you know... YOU'LL SOON SPOT THE CHAVS!!!
and then you'll be able to anser that very Question...

what??? lol its true... and you know it

lol... i'd defo state there killing the "Raves"
But as for the scene... No... No way!

To state there killing the "hardcore scene" would have to ask a different Question... "Which scene!"
If your talking about the "UK Hardcore" scene - Then i'd agree... chavs taken over that years ago... you only have to look at the "no tolorence!" news post on the htid website http://htid.co.uk - to work that one out!

^^^ that = BLIND evodence

But like i say... "scene" goes futher then Uk... including contrys... not all hardcore resides in the UK these days... Personally i like the look of the US Scene... I like the feeling of "PLUR"... as stupid as it sounds atleast they have some form of "happy" understanding about the music... just don't like the "kandi kid" thing... it seams like something that could spark of a "trend" if hardcore ever went bigtime over there... Trends = bad!

And its becuse of "trends" that most people sterotype what a "Chav" is in the first place lol... - not good!

Not just that but i've watch some videos of the raves over there... the ones on sean apollos myspace ect... THEY LOOK MAD!!! there just simple get together things in like a pub or something... reminds me the times i used to go up "Edwards No.8 (Eddies)" up birmingham when i was younger... it was all underground... and genuine... all there showing our support... thats the sort of "scene" i like you know

and Jenks - i can't spell that good and what...? haha

I am 32 but anything but an elite w*nker. I have seen many people come into the scene and leave it. I think youth and experience are as valuble as each other.
I enjoy raving with 14 and 15 year olds as much as my older old skool raver mates. Age in this scene is irrelevant. I cannot pretend I am younger than I am nor can I take back what I have experienced ( nor would I ).
The fact that the scene survived so many difficult times is something many of us older ravers should quite rightly feel proud of. However if we look down on younger people we will destroy the scene. The younger element brings in new energy and they in turn will create something new with what they have and I for one will continue to listen.

It is quite right to recognise chavs were not around in the early 90s. However some of the styles are now used by people one may refer to as a chav, like hoodies.

Some people are thick some are bright that don't bother me I will talk to youa all the same. Some are nasty some are nice that's far more important. Its not old vs young, it real vs blag.

personally I don't like dodgy blaggin scum.

I want friendly happy faces and if that's in side a hoodie or burberry cap so much the better.

I love people who take a stereo-type, build it, that shatter it.

That's intelligence
That's hardcore

Remember its nice to be important but more important to be nice
Scooter I think....and they wear leather jackets...discuss

best thing ive seen written in a long time

I think that half of the problems with these threads is the definition of the word chav. Chav started off being a derogatory word, similar (as Simon pointed out) to the word yob, basically meaning a trouble maker who's level of intelligence is slightly above that of an amoeba and prefers talking with his/her fists as sentences with more than three words in scare him/her and often from the poorer side of UK society.

Over time other people who didn't fit into this category started being assosciated with the Chav name due to many things such as the clothes they wore (Burberry, tracksuits, baseball caps with the peak pointing to the sky etc), they way they spoke (innit, like!), their taste in music (one of the main reasons for this thread!!). And so being a chav changed in some people's eyes to represent these things (just as anybody who wears baggies and a hoody is a skater apparently ;-) ). Its even got to the point where people are proud to be a chav, not fully understanding the implications that it has.

The thing is its human nature to assosciate how you look with how they perceive you to act. You walk down the street and theres a bunch of kids in their trackies and stripey tops drinking cider and swearing at the top of their voices. Its natural to assosciate that with the images we seee every week on the news and in the papers of a group of "chavs" bottling some guy on a drunken night out, or stabbing some poor sod to death. However, you can't always connect image and behaviour together like that

A case in mind:

I have a friend who has a shaved head, except for a strip down the center (kind of a mohican only short and flat), which goes down to a pony tail, usually sporting a reasonable amount of stubble and has a tendency to wear t-shirts proclaiming that Satan will rise again, and he listens to extremely heavy death/black metal - to look at he is quite a scary chap.

This guy is a Dr of Engineering, has presented many papers at International Conferences on various subjects and is a reasonably respected guy within academic circles. He is also a fantastic friend and only ever sacrifices people's pets when its a full moon.

Anyway, what was I saying? Oh yeah, people's definitions of Chav are very different to other people's so maybe bear that in mind

Having read Underloop's thoughts on the subject

it's put me in mind of an old Yorkshire saying that goes something like this -

"Aye, the whole world's queer except thee and me,

....and I'm not too sure of thee...."
