Seriously, I'm looking to buy hardcore, but I'm not going to pay the overly high prices on individual label's website. I went on the TnC website and there were tracks going for 2 ****ing pounds! I'm not going to pay 4 dollars for an mp3. It's the same with the Nu Energy store, Trackitdown, and pretty much every other place that sells hardcore (edit: except for the way too tiny amount of stuff on beatport). As much as I love the music, I'm not going to pay above 2 bucks a track, period.
Every other genre of music is willing to put their music out there for less stupidly high prices, and actually making it a little easier to buy the music instead of just firing up a p2p and stealing tunes you can't afford to buy.
(on a similar note, how much does one pay to use IMO download? They don't tell you a damn thing on their website about how much anything costs.)

Am with you on that, the price is shocking!
Just yeasterday someone posted up about UFO mp3 store they make no mention of the quality but want £2 for a track, me personally i will not pay that for an mp3 a wav file yes but never for a mp3!
Look at the price of normal chart shit 79p - £1, so how they can justiy charging double that for a track is beyond me

well, if you can make thos bloody "hate anything digially" to by mp3's/wav's instead of complaining about "ooo it's not something i can hold... ooh i loose quality nooo"

Last HC CD's i bought were Japanese Hardcore, CD's go usually at 2000YEN. They have about 14 tracks per record on average.
2000YEN = 8.2677GBP, so that makes it about 0,59GBP per track.
At 0,59 pounds, i get it as high quality, with a physcial disc that has artwork. And Japan is supposed to be one of the most expensive countries in the world.
For a 4 track CD single i think 5€ is as high as i go, usually it is that. it equals to about 1,25€/track (0,84GBP/track). And that i'm willing to pay when i get the CD.
I agree with Pope C XXIII, 2 pounds for one track is ridiculous. They have zero warehouse costs, no nothing. Most of the process can be automated, it should be a lot cheaper then buying physical records.
I sure as hell aint gonna pay more money for an inferior format, ever :P

If i would count the number of tracks i have on CD or vinyl, it would be thousands. 2 bucks may seem small, but multiply that with few hundred for starters and you'll see how much it really will cost.

I have no problems paying 2 quid for a track.
I have no evidence to back this up, but I suspect the piracy that results from a vinyl sale is considerably less than the piracy resulting from MP3.
Why? Laziness.
If you buy a vinyl, chances are you own turntables and will play it out on those. There are only a select few who buy tunes on vinyl transfer them to digital and play them out on mp3.
People who buy tracks on MP3 on the other hand, probably just chuck them into a big folder 'MP3' and this is shared on the P2P networks (whether they meant to or not).
Again, yes 2 quid is more than the latest track from Britney Spears on iTunes... but she's got a bigger audience.

btw influx, there is a differance between £2 and $2 (aus), £2 is nearly $5 (aus)
if artists make £0.50 / £1 per vinyl sale (which has Two tunes on it) why do they feel its right to sell mp3s for nearly the same price as hardcore vinyl?
if they sold them at a certain price so their profit margins were the same as selling with vinyl, then they would open up a whole new feild of people who would buy the music instead of going on forums and downloading shit quality versions for free. this area of people is probably about 5 times bigger than the ammount of ppl that currently buy mp3s legally so it might be worth opening their eyes to this, maybe sell radio edits for even less? something to think about rather than moan anyway

i agree with what influx is saying about hardcore being a small scene so the prices need to go up. CNC the chart tracks are 79p or whatever but theyre only 3 mins long, hardcore tracks are at least 5mins long so you get what you pay for i suppose. nu energy only costs a quid a track plus tax, so like £1.15 or something, the max ive seen is £1.50. i reckon thats a really good price, you get 320kbps mp3s that sound well better than an obselete vinyl does. the crappy dollar to pound exchange rate doesnt help, but come on $3 is naff all mate!

Id pay 1.50 for a track that I wanted. I prefer vinyl though, so would always buy that unless there was no other choice.
