I got asked the other night what i do for a job.
I mentioned my day job and then i was like but im trying to make it as a music producer/engineer. And this guy was like oh right, what kind of music? Are you in a band?
I was like nah mate i produce mainly Hardcore or other dancey-type music.
He was hardcore? as in happy hardcore? Rave music?
And i was like yeah... wow im surprised youve actually heard of it most people would just smile and nod and walk away
And he was like oh nah i understand... I mean its not my thing but i guess your heaps into drugs and you know a lot of junkies and stuff right?
and i was like... what? excuse me? Are you calling me a junkie?
And he wa slike oh maybe not a junkie but obviously you do drugs a hell of a lot.
I was like what? whys that?
And he was like well you wouldnt exactly get into hardcore for the challenge... i mean its ****ing basic anybody could do it and be a professional with it... plus everyone who raves is a junkie so if you produce it as well you must be a super junkie...
At this point there was a huge smack in the mouth and lots of ill fated words said by my friends to his and so forth...
Perfect example of people being ****ing narrow minded, ignorant and naive about everything except the ****ing pop or rock scene.

that's pretty douchey.
i realize that some junkie's have given the scene a bad name and all, and there are a lot of kids who still get really ****ed up at every party... but i haven't done those kinds of things in a long time myself and still love hardcore.
you don't have to do the drugs to enjoy OR produce the music.
it's just too bad that some people think so. o well, his loss i guess.
this just goes to show you what a lot of people assume when they hear "rave" or "happy hardcore"

Its not even the fact that he assumed i did drugs. Thats not so 'out of bounds' because the majority of people do but assuming im a ****ing junkie? and calling me one to my face when he JUST met me and knew nothing about me?
**** THAT. Like from knowing that i like rave music he can assume drugs control my life. What a ****wit. Biggest dropkick ive met in my life.

i wouldnt be upset in the slightest if he said oh so you pill a lot? Id be like sometimes yeah so what i enjoy it, but im not addicted to any drugs besides cigarettes and i HAVE raved without drugs so it clearly doesnt define my love for the music. If i couldnt get drugs i wouldnt skip a party.
Its just the fact that he called me a JUNKIE to my face, and all my friends junkies. Thats ********. I know people who club that do a lot more drugs than my raver friends. Its just ********.
And that Hardcore is basic? WHAT THE ****! Thats what i couldnt take.

lmfao im not in the slightest surprised you got labeled, I thought we all did. After all we are only the hardcore enough people to take drugs right ? I mean you have to be hardcore to pop pills n jack up on china white yeah ? Only the hardcore can chase the dragon right ?
These people only need to look in their local pubs/clubs/streets to see junkies, they just use the hardcore scene cos its a cop out, its an easy target, therefore they use it.
Local Governments have their heads stuck in years gone by, thinking that all things "rave" are drug related. Why you think we have so few major raves these days ?
I got tired of fighting the system years ago, you'll never win, people will take drugs no matter what, they take them daily, nothing to do with any dance music scene.
If people like that feel the need to label you like that, so be it, label them an ignorant ****wit.

yeah but i doubt it hurt him much. He was way bigger than me and im pretty scrawny.
Still, it was mroe about proving the point that he crossed a line rather than hurt him.

I should point out at this time not im not some wannabe gangster/chav/lad whatever you call it in your country... i just dont feel what was wrong with hitting him if he insulted me and all my friends without even knowing me... and especailly with something im so passionate about

Whats violence gonna solve ? Nothing. Pointless lowering yourself to that level, and not worth the risk of gettin a hammering, just cos someone has a crap "closed mind" point of view.

due to contrary belief (i dont know what it means what i just said) violence IS the answer. Once you beat him up he will know not to piss you off a again, but if u just tell him or exchange words, he can do it again cos he know he wont get hit and that he has authority over you. think about it.

Yeah i know its stupid, especially if he was the kind of **** to make assault charges and make it sound a lot worse than it actually was and milk it... it was a pretty immature thing to do... but you know... he got the point. Plus i had had a few bevvies = Acting before thinking

Well he was quite accuarate, about both people who go to raves and the music. Apart from the bit about producers being any more 'junkies' than anyone else.
In any case who cares what he thinks, why would it even bother you.
