i've never done drugs and never will and i still love my rave music.

I understand you and comments like that piss the crap out of me too! I just got told about 2 weeks ago from some girl at my college that I wasnt a real raver because I have never rolled, and I dont roll!

Me too. But I don't produce music. Key word=produce.
I'm not justifying Andrew's actions, but I don' think it was wrong for him to stand up for something he passionately contributes to and believes in.

insulting someone's music taste and destroying their property are two entirely different things though haha
i can see why you'd be mad, i just don't think it's something that's particularly worth fighting over

I've had people laugh at me when i say what music i listen to and my passions for it, i've had people insult it calling it childish, talentless, and for druggies/junkies blah blah. The way i look at it is, if that person knows nothing about it and has only heard of it in passing, he is in no position to pass judgement on it.
I love it when people have a go at my music and when they do, this is how i handle it.
Ask what music they listen to, or what they are passionate about, then put a big fat stereotypical comic style stamp on it and watch them squerm. The fact is, people that speak out in the way you just defined, often react just as badly to such ignorant words directed back at them.
I've spoken to a fella who loved rock as i have a mate who has his own band. He made a gross generalisation of hardcore when we started talking about music (druggies, no job, dole etc), so i said "all rockers are coke-heads, they are arrogant, non talent people that think mashing fingers on a guitar randomly and screaming swear words as loud as they can down a microphone means talent... you shoulda seen his face 
He then started up again on his rant about hardcore just to try and "beat" me in some sort of slag match at which point i stopped him and said: "listen, i don't really think that about rock music or people who listen to it, but look how annoyed you just got because someone you don't even know had a go at your music with a typical "outsiders" viewpoint. You're entitled to your opinions, but there is no need for rude, ignorant comments about something you don't know or understand. I'm not going to get angry at you because of this; its pathetic."
The guy fell silent, and i walked off. I'd like to think that since that night, the guy has tried to open his mind a bit more and at least become more receptive to other peoples' tastes and views. (Although i somehow highly doubt it)
My point is, people who are ignorant, don't deserve your time or to be conversed with on an intellectual level, so don't waste your time on them. Just laugh and walk away; they aren't going to feel to grunt of their ignorance so why should you?
One of my favourite quotes can perfectly fall here. As Shakespeare once wrote; "There is no darkness but ignorance."
Think about that the next time you meet someone else like him (because you probably will) and you'll smile in the knowledge that whatever insulting words they say (without even realising how rude they are being), they are just showing you how much broader your world is than their own and better still as you look at their face, you will see just how blind to the many different great things in the world they are. Their loss matey, not yours.

i really ****ing hate it when people say a genre is crap. like for example, 'happy hardcore is for girls, ****ing gay girly music with gay vocals or whatever'.. they should respect others and not bag music choices.. ffs that REALLY pisses me off.

If someone called me a junkie i would ask him what did you say? if he was stupid enough to say that again i would smack the shit out of him!
IMO a junie is someone that is addicted to drugs, yes i have tried various drugs and i am not addicted! To me a junkie is some one that uses herion, crack or ice!
Taking mdma, speed, e, trips, weed etc if not the same!
I got to say immature or not hitting the idiot waas the best possible outcome of this!
