are you educated? do you understand english? all i am saying is that 33's and 45's are clearly different, and some people (myself included) much prefer mixing with 45's because they find 33's harder to use. harder does not mean impossible. it doesn't mean i only mix 45's. it just means its more difficult.

The further spaced out the grooves are on a record the better sound quality, you can fit around 14 mins on a record at 45 before you have to start to reduce the quality of it. 33 is 18 mins I believe. Yes 45 sounds better than 33 because it spins faster and the cuts and grooves in a record are more spread out (due to the speed). But to an average person they wont notice the difference between 33 and 45, it's really down to how good the guy making the metal work for the vinyl is.
Anything higher than that they have reduced the quality, you don't notice the different in your parents albums because you never heard the very orginial, I'm sure it sounded different.

Track times vary depending on the type of plate and the overall loudness. The following track times are recommendations based on maximum loudness. Tracks that exceed the maximum length can still be cut, but may be subject to a reduction in loudness.
12 inch 7-8 minutes per side
10 inch 5-6 minutes per side
7 inch 3-3:30 minutes per side
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12 inch*
10 inch*
7 inch**
*Maximum number of tracks per side: 2
**Maximum number of tracks per side: 1

where did you copy those from? I think we all know that 2 tracks isn't the maximum for a 12".

we're having a perfectly fine discussion and then out of nowhere you come in with this:
quote: you find it harder to mix with 33's then 45's wtf its the bpm not the speed of the rpm, learn to mix.
i find that slightly more than a little bit belligerent, as well as an incredibly stupid thing to say, because if you had a shred of reading comprehension you would see that nowhere were we discussing the bpm of tracks. your comment was offensive, as well as stupid.

raindancerob is clearly an idiot, just ignore him
even if someone that "can mix" will have no trouble with it, that doesn't mean it's not harder to mix on 33 in the first place (it wasn't for me cause I learnt both at the same time)
and silver: I most definitely notice the difference in sound quality
that doesn't mean 45s can't sound bad, they often do (damn Next Gen), but my best 45s sound way better than my best 33s

So anyone got more info on the question i asked previously?
If the sound quality ain't as good on a 33 since all the hiphop/r&b labels (major labels) press there vinyl at 33 is this just for the minority that will be djing (doing tricks) with them?

mixing is about both actually, i think so anyways... probably more so about bpm than rpm... again in my mind.
goal for mixing = make the bpms identical.
rpm doesn't have muuuuuuch to do with mixing, as far as i can understand, except for sound quality.
