What always makes me chuckle is that whilst there is no hard evidence EITHER way as to who is right or wrong, it is always the atheists who proclaim religious (and I lump all religions in there as they are all essentially the same) as pathetic and idiots. Its good to see that the scientific side of the argument is being stood up for by those with a clearly scientific way of thinking :-)
The burden of proof is clearly on the the person who claims there's a magic man in the sky, not with the person who quite rationally responds with 'no there isn't'. Of course it can't be proven that there is no god, it's unprovable by definition, I could tell you that there's an undetectable pink unicorn on the far side of the moon that farts fairy dust, you can't prove me wrong by that doesn't make my assertion any less ridiculous. Don't ask yourself could there be a god, ask yourself: why the hell would there be? The Christian god is a scum bag anyway, why would you want to worship him? Oh, that's right, he'll make sure you suffer for eternity if you don't! Convenient how these religions tend to be structured isn't it? Believe what I tell you to believe and you'll go to heaven, don't do what I tell you and you'll burn forever. Classic carrot and stick, it's a shame people still fall for it.

people still fall for it because they believe that it give them a purpose. it seems that nothing physical, provable on this planet does.

....it makes me chuckle as well mate.
Science looks at the evidence, quantifies it etc, and 'proves' the theory or 'disproves' the theory. QED.
If there is no quantifiable evidence then there is no proof and therefore, and this is the funny bit....
if you're 'Scientific', it's Hypocritical to make a statement either way.

Omnipotence is a logical impossibility, so if there is some sort of supernatural deity out there you can strike the Christian/Jewish/Islamic one off the list. No one's categorically stating that the is no god, the idea of one was purposely created in such a way that would make that impossible. What you can do though, is make the rational assumption that there is no god, given the complete lack of evidence for one, like we would in any other similar situation in our lives. I can't know for sure that when I walk in the post office I won't be magically transported to a parallel dimension where my body will be turned inside out an I will be raped by woodland critters for all eternity, yet I go in anyway. Amazing.

at jenks: believe it or not (clearly: not) there is a fair amount of evidence out there supporting the bible. everyone knows about the more evidence for jesus than julius caesar thing. there are wuite a few books on it if you want some pointers.

There's one source that supports the existence of Jesus other than the Bible, none that support he was the son of god. Never mind the nuggets of information that might be correct in there, what about the huge swathes blatant BS in there?

By the way, as it goes, theres more evidence about jesus EXISTING than julius Caesar... not about what they did. Im sure some dude named jesus did live a while ago... hell theres apparently like 170 people last year that legally changed their names to jesus. I believe he existed, i DONT believe in everything he did. Chinese whispers, yeah?
And also, on the topic of women ruining everything for men, i totally agree with that.
Global warming? Women. hair spray and all those products. Yep, women.
id even go so far as to say like
George Bush.... believe it or not a woman did give birth to him. Womenkinds fault again. She could have got an abortion.
In case you cant tell im taking the piss. Please refrain from your immature comments about me being sexist.

I see what you're getting, any question used to highlight the paradox essentially boils down to 'can god be both omnipotent and not at the same time' which seems to be nonsense, and a theist would have you conclude that it is, but since we're analysing omnipotence which implies that anything is possible, the only logical conclusion is that he problem lies with the concept of omnipotence, which is nonsense, not the question.

So, having heard all of the arguments you're putting forward, many times before, I think we'll just have to disagree
and leave it at that mate.
