Sorry, missed a few posts in this thread whilst I've been busy:

Don't ask yourself could there be a god, ask yourself: why the hell would there be? The Christian god is a scum bag anyway, why would you want to worship him? Oh, that's right, he'll make sure you suffer for eternity if you don't! Convenient how these religions tend to be structured isn't it? Believe what I tell you to believe and you'll go to heaven, don't do what I tell you and you'll burn forever.
First up, who said God was a man in the sky? Again, back to the whole interpretation thing - I'll put my view on who / what God is in a bit. As for the hell and damnation thing, thats a bit old school and extremism. Yes there are people out there who proclaim that, but lets face it, most of them are t**ts! :-) Most religions, not just Christianity, are pretty tolerant of non-believers or people with other beliefs. Like I've said before, the bible was originally (ie Old Testament) written in a time when views on life were different. Check out this link to see what I mean!

OK, another way at looking at what God actually is which is how I see God. A phrase pretty much everyone has heard before is 'God is love'. Most people take that in the hippy-esque sense of the phrase in that God stands for love. My view on it is that it is quite literal - God actually is the emotion love. Now go back and look at some of the great religious passages and you start to see them in a whole new light. Jesus was the son of God ie he was born out of love, We are all made in the image of God and indeed are all sons/daughters of God. It certainly fits in with the omnipotence bit and to my mind blows the omnipotence being impossible argument out of the water as love is everywhere (although sometimes we have to dig a bit deeper to find it). Love is also the purest of all the emotions. I could go on, but I won't heh Anyway, just my thoughts on the matter
