One of the biggest things you're going to want to learn as well is basic music theory. How to count beats and bars. Electronic music is very formulaic and the key to getting a good mix is knowing when to start/stop tracks. Also how everything is phrased because you might have tracks playing together for quite some time. You can probably google music theory, or go buy a beginner book from a local bookstore/music shop. They'd be more than able to point you in the right direction if you ask them you want to learn how to count beats/bars/measures etc.

HAHAHAHA
thats what i thought after i read the first page
but really i still dont know how you got a gig if you dont have turntables unless you lied to them... or stole some music and said it was yours
if you dont even know the basics and dont even have turntables yet ima recommend that you read.... you can go to any library store (i perefer boarders) and buy alot of "how to" stuff such as "DJing For Dummies" -i actually read that last year and it helped explain ALOT of what i thought to be gibberish

but virtual dj only gives you a concept of djing
if you get real turntables youll have no idea what your doing its all experience and practice mate
as for the videos i think those are fine to educate yourself about djing but you have to be sure this is for you

I just googled DJ Rankin... after listening to several of his songs I threw up in my mouth. What a talentless ****.
But aside from that I wish ya luck acidix. :)

There was quite a bit of "chipmunk" sounding stuff in early happy hardcore i dont personally have a problem with that part of it (well actually i do but just because it sounds ****ing stupid speeding up hardcore tracks too much) i think its more the playing crappy out of time samples over the top and taking credit for something that was once a great song.

so true. you really need to buy urself some dj gear and then practice with that untill ur comftable, know how to mix (bpm sync, when to cue a track start end of a track ect) and then get urself a gig man. dont jump head in first man.
