sorry if this has been said i just aint been around much lately :)
Thinking outside the box. Why should it be a Hardcore track? Its a competition for the MEMBERS of HHC.com doesnt necessarily have to be Hardcore imo. Feel free to disagree but i think it could be interesting to throw out a few rules (or not create certain ones whatever).

Nice one guys. :)
MJ - Do it man. Would love to hear a new track from you.
I'm not sure about other genres really... It would be ok if one or two do something different but I think we really need some Hardcore tracks out of this. :P I guess most people would go ahead and make Hardcore anyway?
What's peoples views on this?
Obviously any type of Hardcore is ok for starters (Oldskool/Hardcore Breaks, Breakbeat Hardcore, Happy Hardcore, UK Hardcore, Dutch Hardcore, Freeform etc.).

surely if the competition is hosted on a website called happyhardcore.com and the songs are going to be subject to voting then a track that is anything other than hardcore runs the risk of getting hardly any votes... i think it should be allowed, but the producer would have to asess the fact they might not have a lot of votes.

its happyhardcore.com
i think it should be kept hardcore.
though i dont think a track that isnt hardcore would get no votes.
if this were a trance website i wouldnt expect DnB remixes and Hardcore remixes..
that said - theres nothing in the rules to say that it has to be hardcore....
*edit*
to make it more interesting, i think any vocals used should not use the words
Fly
Angel
High
Birds
Bees
Sky
:D

But there are plenty of people on here who have varied tastes in music. Like me for one, ill be making Hardcore (providing i go through with it), but id love to hear a Trance version, DnB, Electro, whatever. Bit of variety could make it that little bit more interesting. Ill be voting for which track i think is best. Best produced, best flow etc etc not just because its Hardcore. I cant say the same for everyone else on here obviously, but if someone makes a track of a different genre and its the best of the bunch (including hardcore) theyll be getting my vote.

Hmmm I'm not sure on this one. I think Triquatra is probably right and we should keep it Hardcore. It is a Hardcore site at the end of the day so we should be pushing Hardcore music only with this comp' I guess... As much as I would like to have heard other genres myself.

When other genres come into it, it makes it harder to vote based on what you like.
What if you really like a hardcore mix and really like a trance mix for example?
It's too hard to split between genres

Yes, that's a good point. I think I'm going to add Hardcore only to the rules unless everyone has a problem with that.

Exactly. I like trance and many other genres but...
I think everyone should HAVE to use the vocals provided. As it stands the rules say we can all get our own vocals recorded. It'd be more interesting to see what people made using the initial stuff provided.

The only problem with forcing people to all use the same vocal is that some people may not like said vocal. As it stands people have to make their vocal available to other members taking part so the emphasis is still very much on the production side of things and not how good a vocalist you know.
That said, I have no problem with everyone just using the vocals kindly offered by Nova... I wouldn't be too shocked if nobody else put vocals forward anyway now that we have something sorted.

i thought dain-ja was gonna sing...
...you can strike me off the list now ;)
seriously though, if we're using just the one vocal anyone who doesnt like it can still "use" it in a way...just tear it up, and make wierd noises with it :P
looking forward to making a start on this - has anyone got lyrics yet?

Bunch of spoilsports ;)
No worries then, would have liked to hear a few different styles but just Hardcore will be ok.
