Where did you get from what he said, that he is new and dosn't know what he's talking about?

I'm not trying/don't want to cause an argument, i just think they are really innacurate comments that are pretty uncalled for.

I was almost worried that the whole album was going to suck after listening to it and that UK Hardcore was in trouble again (like the beginning of 2008 with the onslaught of TNC and Electro Hardcore).

Lol i just read that, and yes, that Electro stuff was ****ing god awfull to say the least.

He's obviously not reading the thread and just trolling. I own almost every single Raverbaby release.

After seeing your join date I am very honored to have your support. Looks like we are on the same page when it comes to UK hardcore.

I think what a lot of people don't get in this thread is that while it's great that UK hardcore is constantly changing maybe some of us don't like the absolute freshest new sounds all the time?

I talked to Hixxy when he played my show 3 months ago about the way things are going. I asked him if he misses oldskool super cheesey happy hardcore and he said he does, but it will never come back. I agree with him and it's a shame.

Hixxy does pretty much whatever he wants to do which is what I like about him. He has a mind of his own and doesn't follow the herd or what's cool.

There is a certain sound I look for when I listen to "happy" hardcore and a lot of producers haven't really been living up to their names as of late.

Raverbaby has pretty much always stuck to the sound they started with. Don't get me wrong there are a few horrible releases.

The ironic thing is that Sharkey started with cheese as did Kevin Energy. Remember Toytown and Wanting to Get High? Or how about DJ Energy - Hardcore Fever?

How's that for n00b? ;)

hixxy is the biggest sheep in town mate

If that was 100% true he would have been producing shitty electro hardcore and releasing S3rL tracks on Raverbaby.

Your head is so far up your ****ing ass. I love Hixxy (atleast his older stuff), so I`m not just hating, but he`s been making crappy popcore for a good while now. How would releasing an S3RL track be following the herd? No joke, that part really confused me.

in fairness though, hixxy is not longer leading the hardcore movement... he's barely keeping up... what he does isnt exactly original... the game zambookan isnt original by any stretch of imagination, and very few of his newer stuff seen on CXH5 was exactly 'big'...

to an extent hixxy has become a sheep, but to an extent. very little new and original stuff comes from him. its a contrast to the old days when he was on the front line taking hardcore forward.

I've been giving the Hixxy mix more of a listen. In defence of the mix, it was good to hear many of those tunes again. Some haven't heard for a while (although I could listen to them on other compilations) but good to have them on the same mix. Despite alot of criticism of this mix, there still are some great tracks selected. It's not a bad selection really is it? But there are better songs that could have easily made it onto the mix in place of some. I've heard other criticising the mixing also, I'll have to listen in more detail for this.

Despite the album not being a classic, it was No.8 last week in the compilation charts (on Radio 1 site). Just down one place this week so is selling well which is good news.

I'm in complete disagreement with this. Hixxy's mix on CXH5 was massive, and his recent productions appeal to me much more than anything he did before 2007. Hes also much stronger on his solo projects than ever. I don't think he's leading the Hardcore movement musically though, as I don't think anybody can have the pretention to be leading the whole Hardcore scene forward themselves, right now or at any moment in Hardcore's history. He's certainly still one of the major players, and promotes massive events... I mean what can possibly compare to HTID: In The Sun? Maybe the artists featured aren't your cup of tea, but put that aside and see the week long party organised in a spanish resort... nothing else in Hardcore compares to that.

And again, what the hell is going wrong with the fonts on these boards? They're getting ridiculously small and hard to read :P

Yes, Hixxy is still producing some great tunes. His solo tunes on X-treme Hardcore 5 were really good. Just recently heard his songs from his mix from the 3rd volume from the same series, some superb tunes!

The best mix from the album was Sharkey's but despite that still not one of his best mixes. Was great up to Building Shaker but then there were some average and poor tunes. Out of the last half of the mix, Let the bass kick was the best tune.

I say his mixing on this cd is less predictable than most album mixes these last years... What's wrong with a little experimentation, especially with such played-out tracks? Plus he's not the first one to try funky mixing on professional albums... take a listen to Brisk's cd from Hardcore heaven 2005, you'll see what I mean I think!

Brisk's mixing is unbelieveable, the best in hardcore IMO.

You obviously haven't heard a Kev Energy set my friend

no I'm not... i find it hard to believe that hixxy is still taking hardcore forward...

5 years ago, yes, now, no way...
