I don't know how you can compare Orbit1 to Carl Cox. Sure there both great DJs but I'm willing to bet that Carl Cox has a far bigger fan base and way more die hard fans then Orbit1 does. Far more. Far far far more.
People have big expectations when they see Carl Cox playing anywhere. It would hurt his image to play a different genre especially with his fans. I mean look at this message board, you see people producing for a different genre and everyone gets all butt hurt about how there "abandoning" Hardcore (Such a silly thing to say seriously). He would probably get a similar reaction with his fans, despite how retarded it is.
Anyway that is my theory on why something like that would never happen. I'll leave it there.
Well that's essentially what i said as well, your right. There is no way he could risk his reputation by playing what people within his genre class as 'childish' music. Plus, he already makes a huge living from House, what would he possibly have to gain from playing Hardcore?

i dont want hardcore to be popular really..
i want it to be underground..
im sick of me playing music and my brother coming in and assuming its darren styles...
in effect, hardcores the thing i like to come home to and listen to.. its a world that i dont want everyone to be a part of.. for me, its my unique attribute, listening and making hardcore..

**** that. Hardcore should be played very, very loud so everyone can hear it. Also, the poppy commercial stuff is needed

As far as where I live, Hardcore doesn't exist. It's odd, I want people to know about it, but I know that people will be immediately latching onto the scene and thinking "WOW THIS IS COOL, LET ME GET IN ON THIS!" And then it will lose all appeal. I don't think it should become more popular, I think it should be internally fixed.
My friend Rita has a very good example of why Hardcore should not be more popular, at least in the SoCal area. I'll ask her to post.

To make hardcore more popular! get it advertised more, more commercials and more music in shops like HMV so on.

we need new harcore dj's releasing cd's with proper hardcore instead of over mixed tunes and crappy rinsed out freeform.
All the old dj's need to step back let some new names into the competition.
