Someone else that buy hardcore as MP3 that feels that the new price for all tunes, 1,99£, is really much for an mp3? Hardcore is the only genre to have this price.

I dont think its worth tu buy an mp3 for that price. An mp3 should cost AS MOST 1,50£. But I think that 1£ is a good price.

Now people will start talking about filesharing, that no one buy mp3s so they must have this high prices. DO THEY THINK THAT MORE PEOPLE WILL BUY MP3s WITH THIS PRICE?

The major labels dont want people to buy mp3s, thats for sure. To buy 2 mp3s costs almost the same as a vinyl now. And what is more fun to have, a vinyl or 2 files on my computer?

I dont want to see another major label whining about "mp3s sells so bad". I understand people that fileshare!

It depends.. only a couple of labels sell at that price, and i think all the labels on Serious sounds sell at that price..

I used to sell a 320kbps for 2 pounds and they actually did sell a hell of alot still.. but i've since lowered the price to 1.50 ..

I honestly dont think fileshares fileshare because they cant afford an mp3, i think they do it because they're lazy and don't care about the work labels/producers put in.

Any decent supporter of a relatively underground scene would happily pay 1.50 or 2 pounds for a good track that's being made in love for the music and scene..

I have nothing wrong with spending 2 pounds on an mp3, providing its priced according to quality though. And anyway, alot of distribution companies take a large some of the gross profit anyway.. some take 50 percent, which leaves you with 1 pound. and if the deal witht he producer is to pay him via. 50/50 revenues, then you pay him half a pound. So when you think about it, the producers only really receive half a pound going by this example. So is it too much to ask for??

But i understand what you mean.. i'd only buy something 2 pounds if it were worth it.. i bought a bunch of tracks on serious sounds the other day, expensive, but worth it!!

I have to agree on Starstruck on this.
Even if the MP3 would have cost 9(.90) SEK (roughly £0.85) like iTunes(se) and cdon.com does, most of these guy's wouldn't buy it.

But I also have to agree on what danjel says. Compared to what imodownload, junodownload, hardbeatstore and serioussounds take, it's quite alot more than what itunes takes (and most of that money barely goes to artists). So either these stores just take to much paid, or hardcore artists have a big ego :P

I've mostly only seen label stores (like ufo and seduction's) taking £2 for a tune.

Like Starstruck said, if it's really a good track, most people would still buy it, as long as the quality is up to par. Personally, nowadays I'd only buy a WAV for over £2, not a MP3

If I should buy a tune for 2£ is must be a really good tune. I would never buy a decent tune for that price.

I have spoke to a few about this and all says the same, that its too expesive.
I think the labels are digging their own grave.

The fact is that less people play vinyl nowdays. I will sell less vinyls! The vinyls will NEVER start to sell more! Thats the fact!
And I dont think the way to sell more tunes is to take overprice on their mp3s.

im selling for €1.49 which is 1.79 pound? say i put 4 tracks on vinyl.. 4x ~1.50 = €6,00 ... thats bloody cheap for vinyl ;) nd ill even make decent profit pressing 250 at once :)

prices aint that weird if u ask me.. cd albums might be cheaper compared to single mp3's.. but a well.. even if ppl would sell mp3's for 0.10 noone wud buy it simply because its the feeling they have to pay..

€1,49 is around £1,19

If you press a vinyl with 4 tunes it will cost like £5,50.
You get 4 mp3s for £8 with the new prices...

Some ppl will never buy their tunes even if they cost 0,10, true. But not many will buy a decent tune for £2.
For example Quosh selled their mp3s for £0,99 before. I bought quite a few from their store then even if their tunes where decent. Nowdays I hardly ever buy something from them just because their tunes are decent and not worth more...

i think £2 is a bargain to be honest
why is everyone so tight with their money
if you really like a track, you can pay £2 and its yours forever why is this a bad thing?
although i do agree that it must be good quality for that price
ive bought plenty of tunes that are pretty wank quality in comparison to others, but what can ya do eh?

Ok, then. Its just me whining.
I just wanted to see if anyone else thought like me, but it seems like not.

I will for sure buy less mp3s.

Some lables on SeriousSounds still sale for around $1.49 (I can't make your pounds sign), but the $1.99 is kinda steep when you transfer the currency over to USD.

i dont see how you can say that wilky.. wots wrong with ppl buying mp3's?? the general public wants to play music on their pc's and ipods so mp3's are well fit for that. not everyone wants to have real time cd's laying around because they rip it anyway nd convert it to..... mp3! not everyone wants vinyl because not everyone has the need to be a dj or buys decks just to play his/her music.

its not really for howmuch u sell a track and if its wav or mp3... people either buy it because they like it or they will find a way to get the music without paying for it because their all to greedy to pay an artist for his/her work. its never gonna be 100% perfect for everyone.

mainframe founded o3records (www.o3records.nl) and due to the illegal activities in the music business he didnt see how selling music was still worth it so he gives it all away for free. even tracks which were officially released on paid cd's/vinyl on midtown and offensive records. is that where we want the music business to end? just free downloads cuz we're all to greedy to pay for music?

think about that nd then consider if those few pounds are worth it or not. else save up all those pounds nd buy a radio.. on there u can listen some music for free :) isnt it great?

you don't seem to know how it works, alot of people buy a house/appartment that way, either they're not built yet or still under construction.

Only thing I agree with you about is that mp3 is one of the poorest codecs out today, but nothing more. Music is music, not a piece of material you can throw away. You make it sound like that Sounds are some kind of property you can own.

£2 would mean about 26 SEK for One track.

about 5 years ago you could get a paper-single (with 3 tracks) for that price in sweden.
overpriced? naaaaaaah not at all (sarcasm mode always on!)
