prepare for a rant :
i hate it when people just go to raves to do drugs i always tell them ogh your a raver? and they say yeah i always pop extacy im like kmon man dont u just wanna go for the music. anyway thats what makes me mad so what do u guys think i mean drugs at a rave or music at a rave??

If they want to label themselves so bad, create another music scene heavily based off drugs and create a new term for them.

thats what they do over here..except we dont have raves we have sander van doorn and the likes occasionally....but to be fair like having one pill is a pretty good buzz..dont call me a druggy i dont do them regular..just tried them once or twice..and it did make the night quite a bit better

people on drugs don't ruin raves, uppity f*cks walking around judging people are allot more detrimental to the atmosphere of a rave.

there is no either or, what makes the atmosphere at a rave so good is that nothing matters. you can dress however you want and do whatever you want and no one will judge you. maybe you're rave scene is already shit but don't make it shitter.
and on the topic of drugs i challenge you to find one person who has had ecstasy (mdma not some dodgy adulterated pill) and found it to be a negative experience. as far as i'm concerned the only bad thing about ecstasy is that it's illegal and therefore often adulterated.

I hate it when people call themsevles "ravers" or "candy kids" because they roll. Umm...Simdog, I dont know where you get your facts, but MDMA is nowhere near good for you. If you have to rely on a chemical substance for good vibes, then you need to find some help. Some chick in my sociology class came up to me on Tuesday and told me "I guess I went to a rave, there was Ecstacy there." If people want to pop a pill, so be it, but dont run around saying you're a raver because of your pill popping actions.

drugs are pretty fun at raves. K or XTC in a strobe light field is just simly amazing! mind blowing! though i enjoyed tonight wthout drugs, too much alcohol, or girls on my mind and i enjoyed the night (even the shitty 'put your hands up' samples used!)

i did my first year and a half of raving drug free and now i work in the Sydney rave scene. i think that qualifies me as a raver and not just there for drugs but i see nothing wrong with just being there for drugs. someone might go to their first rave purely to take drugs but they can form just as much of a love for the scene as captain sober waling around judging people. i never said mdma is physically good for you but mentally and emotionally it can be, and it's not actually that bad for your body and most people think. you'd be much better off having a standard dose of mdma than drinking alcohol all night.
without recreational drugs not only would there be no rave scene but a **** load of the awesome music we have today would be non-existent. but hey, without drugs the majority of the worlds religions would be non-existent as well so maybe it'd be ok...

This discussion has happened so many times. Everything simdog said is pretty spot on. There isn't many people who go to raves and consider themselves ravers just because they do drugs so who really gives a shit, and even then, well, as long as they don't bother anyone else them let them get on with it. There is idiots like that everywhere you go in the world.
It's definately not a question of drugs or music either. People who go to raves and do drugs aren't the same as people who go to raves to do drugs. The whole point is that your making an already good experiance better by using them. Exactly the same goes for alcohol (i assume your not going to say that alcohol is any different from drugs in this case).
If you have a problem with people doing drugs then just say that instead.

personally i think alcohol is allot worse that mdma.
how many times have you heard of someone hurting themselves or someone else cause they are/were drunk, some people get angry and start fights, they lose their inhibitions and go and take large amounts of drugs on top of the alcohol and end up in hospital.
i could go on forever with negative things spawned from alcohol but what's the worst that happens with mdma?
sure very rarely you get an overdose and even rarer than an overdose someone dies (usually from water intoxication or mixing drugs not the mdma itself)
besides that the worst thing that can happen is you inappropriately hug someone.
don't get me wrong i love my alcohol but i know alcohol can be dangerous, I'm only 19 and know at least 7 people who have died from alcohol related accidents 2 of which were close friends and these were all separate incidents. i also have 2 friends that have overdosed and ended up in hospital, they were fine the next day and it was from taking pills sold as ecstasy that had all sorts of other nasties in them. were mdma regulated that would not have happened.

I do e sometimes when I rave, it's fun. But I definitely don't go because all I wanna do is drugs. Music comes first.

Music at a rave is a given as otherwise it wouldn't be a rave. Drugs at a rave are all good too. I would much rather rave it up with a load of people mashed off their faces than a load of high and mighty chin strokers who think they are "more rave" than the next person because they always go sober. Just go to the party and enjoy yourself in whatever way you see fit without being a c*nt to people, that's what a rave is all about.
It does make me laugh how people assume that anyone on drugs isn't into the music too. Jokes. Loads of the people who make the music you love are either doing drugs now or have done them at some point heh.
