I honestly don't think that this is down to my preference in the music, I am as eager to buy records today as I was back then, and like I've mentioned before, tracks like "Feeling High" will certainly rank highly in my all time greats. The only trouble is I can't find that many good tracks these days.
This is just my opinion on it all, from someone who has been around from day one. Some will agree some won't, but my opinion won't change.
So, is it just your opinion or not?
And yes, it is all down to your preferences in music.
If you were into the oldschool stuff, of course you liked more tracks back then, seeing how the styles have changed over the years. Maybe you only like 2-3 tracks out of 20 new tracks coming out, but obviously it doesn't mean than the other 17-18 are bad, just that you don't like them. I personally have a much higher percentage of satisfaction with upfront Hardcore than you do, and I'm certainly not the only one.
Don't understand you question, "is it just your opinion or not?". It's quite clearly is just my opinion, I think I stated that enough.
And no, I don't think it's down to my preference. If you actually read what is put you will see that some of the newer stuff will go down as my all time favourites, therefore this obviously means that I love the newer stuff as much as I did the old stuff, otherwise it won't go down as some of my ALL TIME favourites
As for you saying that it doesn't mean the other tunes are bad, no it doesn't, it's all to do with taste. But I'd like to bring to your attention to an earlier post where I said that I'm not so shallow that I call a track I don't particularly like crap. For me to call a track crap it's down to the overall effort, and depth put into it, NOT whether I happen to like it or not. But again, this is JUST MY OPINION on what I consider a well thought out track, and not just someone who churns them out for the sake of it.
I think it helps if folk read the threads before making an opinon, just saves any misunderstandings.
And yes, I AM having a bad day ;-)

If you've decided you hate it *all*, carte blanche, no room for maneuveur..... what are the odds that you are actively looking for something to disprove yourself and then giving it a chance to do so?

Think this is a bit harsh, there are still good tracks out there, you just have to hunt a lot harder these days.
Overall I prefer the older stuff as I'm sure most will be aware of, but I won't ever say there's NO good hardcore around these days, becasue there is imo. Even if you don't like the high speed trance sound, kniteforce have been releasing the odd track so there's obviosuly been one or 2 good tracks released ;-)

There's something about the oldskool sounding piano that I just love. CDJay did you reply to my post re WOW What a Rush 10 (Musical Foundations)? I can't remember which thread it was on now?

Eeek, I guess not.
I presume JAL put up the darwin rmx of musical foundations when they put up everything he'd ever done irrespective of who owned vocals, commisioned remixes, paid advances etc
Feel free to check their site, I can't bring myself to do it. It makes me cross.

that was a bit of a cufufal...did anyone actually own up to what exactly happened and why?
(not intentially trying to resurface old scars...just interested)

Simple, I worked my ass off on JAL for over a year and they completely screwed me over. Signed loads of tracks slyly that I had paid for, promoted and verbally secured with all parties. Released and claim ownership of entire works that I owned/own the vocals for. Cancelled WOW10 after it was actually done ( 2 CDs, mastered, the works ) and I'd paid for a Ravin Eye ad. ( the artwork was later salvaged for HU1 ).
I'll give an example:
Pulse Attack. This was a half finished Darwin tune, that I thought had a really nice structure and central riff. I paid Cube::Hard an advance/engineering fee to complete it as a collaboration. It was offered to Stompin Choonz, which was run by Kevin Energy at the time, but he didn't want it. JAL said it was too dark for them. So I absorbed the cost and scheduled it for RFU at a later date. It eventually went on a Hardcore Heaven album, and the entire advance was given to Darwin. I then commisioned a Stormtrooper remix, just before the full extent of the JAL horror-to-be became clear. At this point I am £425 down on this SINGLE track.
Uh oh; JAL had got Darwin to extend his publishing agreement, somewhere therein is a clause claiming RECORDING rights to *all* past and present works. Being new to the industry he'd signed it without very very carefully reading everything and comprehending the ramifications. In a stroke, JAL claim ownership of every track that I have paid advances on, got remixes done for, paid vocal advances or session fees for. I am totally and utterly bent over and violated by the very people I had done so much for.
Result? I don't own the track that I paid for, or the remix of it that I paid for. Hell, I think JAL even pushed for an advance on HU1 for it. The track *I'd* already paid for and they had snatched. Seriously.
So, that's one track. Have a think about how many other ones from that period became entangled.
