Please correct me if I'm wrong but I've never heard of Rave DJs taking requests! In my experience DJs pick tracks they like and try them out. If the track goes down well they'll continue to play it out, but if it clears the floor then it'll get mixed out pretty quickly. Obviously with experience good DJs will have an idea in advance how a tune is going to be received. This is probably one of the reasons why every genre starts to loose its variety over time.
The evolution of hardcore (in all its varieties) since the early 90's has been largely driven by the dancefloor response. The only thing that will make the major players change is if the crowds and sales drop off. If you want change then support the people who are doing what you like.

Nor me. Dosn't happen in normal raves. DJ's already have what they are going to play pretty much planned out.

Never seen or heard of a DJ taking a request in all my 17 years of Raving. The only thing that's been requested is a rewind, which tended to happen more with oldskool and/or jungle/D&B

I requested a tune while Stormtrooper was playing (a 2005 tune with hard kicks) and he shoke his head. He was playing crap all evening and I something a little harder. shows how dedicated the main artists are these days dosn't it.

I have heard of it, but only a small event, and the requests were taken well before the event took place

for the most part requesting a song is an insult to the dj, especially at the larger events. goes to show that you don't like what he's playing and that you think you know better than the dj.
regardless of whether the dj really is playing a bunch of crap, the djs are not "party" djs how me and some other djs like to nickname them. they go to their gig with an idea of the kind of set they want to play out. i guess unfortunately for you,. you didn't like it
knowing you though you probably requested for something that was 10 years old, which doesn't make sense because most djs nowadays play what's new

I requested Stormtrooper & Sharkey - Lazerbeam Addict (which is from 2005 and that rave was in 2007 so less than two years) I think it is a shame you can't ask for tunes you want to hear in some ways but I guess that is the way it is.
Next time im going to request someone plays some DJ Rankin and see what response I get lol

I guess it's a shame he couldn't play one of his own tracks, but then again it is his prerogative, and besides DJ's don't always have ALL their material on them at all time. I get requested songs from my demos all the time, and most of the time I don't have them with me. If I do though, I try my best to fit it in!

Not really, I think he did well not to give you the bird and tell you to go forth and multiply

If you want to request songs go crash weddings mate. Leave the DJ's to get on with what they're doing, I'm sure they like the tunes they're playing and so will many others.

a few years ago at a rave i shouted over to scott brown to play boomstick before he played,he ended up playing it as the last song in his mix but i think he had planned on playing it anyway rather than cause of my shout out lol

any particular song that makes hardcore sound like electro?
I would say Hardstyle and gabber are really the only two styles comletely unaffected.
i'm not sure where exactly hardstyle originated from, but there is an extremely close resemblance from US Hard House from the 90s, and now some ppl call it newstyle, since ppl in Spain produce it as well. in fact sometimes it becomes difficult for me to separate both of them
I meant completely unaffected by electro. from what I'm aware, hardstyle is more or less slower, more melodic (just) nu-style.
