Really? I thought HU was about putting out an album of good music, no matter who the producer who made it is. And Brisk has been in the DJ Mag top 100, so in that sense he's "bigger" than Styles (my point being that there's plenty of "big" artists on HU).

The whole point of HU is to give unknown, unheard of underground artists a platform to have their music heard isn't it?
Agreed.
Brisk
Ham
Marc Smith
Al Storm
Stormtrooper
Scott Brown
ReCon
Gammer
Kev Energy
Sharkey
etc
etc....
Never heard of em!
Haha fair point. I guess i was wrong.
you weren't wrong... how many other compilation albums would these appear on if not for HU4?:
Endymion
Depends in which country you were to ask ;)

Over 75% of all units are now gone.
Anyone waiting to order, for whatever reason, I admire your thrill seeking nature. It's time to pull the cord, though
I won't get drawn into the debate unfurling, beyond reiterating what I already said. HU as an album series was concieved to showcase material that would otherwise be largely ignored and to support emerging and underappreciated talent.

Gave this a good thrashing on the weekend and it really is bloody good. Would have liked 1 or 2 more breakbeat Hardcore tracks somewhere in there.
Love the variety on the Al Storm and Kutski mix and the Oli G & Lost Soul mix is absolutely amazing. 8)

A good album deserves to succeed whatever the content.
It IS a real pity that an awful lot of people who are into Hardcore only see whatever gets thrust under their noses most often and most forcefully. Hardcore (and indeed music in general) suffers because while there is an amazing amount of choice and variety, it's what gets played or promoted the most that gets our attention.
It's unfortunate that an awful lot of people don't take the time to either seek out the alternatives, or stick with them long enough to gain a proper appreciation of them. It's easy for me (and lots of others here) because we know what's out there and aren't blinkered or easily fooled.
WE can make an informed choice - yes, Super mega dance hits 2010 (featuring Hixxy, Basshunter and Flip n Fill with bonus Bassline CD mixed by DJ EZ PZ) might be advertised on TV every 5 minutes and throwing itself at you as you walk in Tesco's front door but i'd rather go and find stuff for myself.
I play tunes to people as often as i can and they like all styles (not just Darren). But give them a choice between somebody they know and somebody they've never heard of and guess which they'll say they prefer? Saying that, eventually they get tired of me ramming stuff down their throats and go off to listen to N Dubz.....
God, i'm getting a lot of typing practice this week!

i've got CXH4 + 5 and HTID (1st aatw one) and bonkers 18... some songs released from aatw's corner I like, but the majority I dont simply because what the music is manufactured to do..
I've heard alternatives and disliked the alternatives... My opinion may be controversial and may come across as naive, but I'm expressing my opinion based on what I've heard and comparing one to the other..

Not controversial at all mate - you're entitled to that opinion because you know what you like BUT can still make an informed choice because you know what's available.
I was writing that aimed at the people who only go for the more commercial stuff (HTID, CXH etc) but don't take time to look for stuff like HU because they're either too lazy, thick or brainwashed to realise it's right in front of their noses. I've spoken to so many people who call themselves serious hardcore lovers but still have no idea about Hardcore Underground and some of the amazing artists out there.
And to be honest, i fear that many of them would take one look at it and have no idea who most of the artists are. Might be easy to blame it all on the evil dark lord Hixxy but i reckon it's all down to people having short attention spans and no imagination!
I've read many pages of gushing praise and arse-licking for projects such as HU but when it comes to the crunch, how much of this is just words to fit in with others? How many REALLY bought it? Been there, done it, pretended to get the T-shirt!

Ehh well my album collection is vast enough for me to know what to like and what not to like, and who to look out for and vice verca. I'm by no means a genius of all that is hardcore, but i know as to what is good music and what isnt and who are notorious for pulling crap on the shelves. Though I still have a lot to learn. I know very little of Jumpstyle, gabber, hardstyle and most older stuff...
Most other people do put up that front, where they want to be a part of the action, sound like they know what they mean and try and earn respect from brown-nosing, but i don't know anyone on hhc who does that and I pity those who do.

- Very emotional... My only complaint is that Lisa Abbott's voice doesn't quite fit such an emotional and serious track. Don't get me wrong, she's good but imagine Donna Grassie or Michael Mansion's singer (whoever she is) singing this instead! The piano is just haunting, it totally makes the track. Excellent closer to the first CD!
Totally agree. Never been much of a fan of her voice tbh anyway, she must have had her way with a producer to get her say on a few of the songs hehe.
Can't believe no-one's talked about the Reese / Mansion track - Closin' In. That and where's Jonathon + Shimamaru's Hold You Know are some of the finest i've heard in the industry so far.
CD 4 seems to have grown into some cult favourite. For me atm, i'm not a fan...i know in a few months i will be, because it really is one of those cd's where you have to sit down and listen to it properly to truly appreciate it.
HU4 is a step in the right direction for hardcore.

Not a fan of Closin In tbh, the Shimamura tune is absolutely brilliant though!
