I would like to see Styles get a track on here... just for giggles... if he produced something ace and sent it in with a different name pretending to be someone else he could probably make it as long as he doesn't sing on it as that would be a dead giveaway.
Speaking of commercial artists on this album, how does Stomp fit in? I don't care what people say, that song is a tune!! I love the riff and the vocal makes it so intense. Is it out of place?

if styles manages to get a track on there, he'd be ripped to utter shreds for being out of place. as would the tracklist and hardcore underground itself... it'd be a total contradiction to the word 'underground'.

What a daft thing to say.
There are numerous tunes on ALL the HU albums that could be seen as 'commercial' or 'cheesy'. Just because loads of people have decided that all of a sudden everything with Styles' name on it is an abomination, doesn't mean he has no right to be considered as a credible artist.
I'm by no means his biggest fan but nobody with an ounce of sense can just dismiss everything he does - often without even hearing it first! A good tune is a good tune regardless of who made it.
Now, how about more of what's good about HU4 - not what could potentially be bad about HU5 and beyond.

I've listened and dismissed everything he's produced recently, since its moulded to suit the commercial world... that's not what i want to hear. I would be disappointed if styles made HU5 or HU6 because for me, he hasn't proven himself to me to be a good enough producer...
this is a different breed of hardcore imo. It has made its success by being so different from commercial albums. rather than the 'biggest' names and the biggest 'remixes', this has been made for those who enjoy the more unheard hardcore from the less commercial artists...

I agree. Styles is one of the best songwriters in the hardcore scene. The reason he wouldn't have tracks on HU is that it probably isn't commercially viable or it would be a breach of contract.
I don't like alot of Styles stuff but some of it is pretty amazing.

The whole point of HU is to give unknown, unheard of underground artists a platform to have their music heard isn't it? It would be a bit of a contradiction to the MO and title of the compilation to have an artist of Styles' fame featured on the comp wouldn't it? I listen to his tunes when he puts them out and true there isn't a right lot of difference between some of his stuff and some tracks featured on HU4 but i would have thought it would be a little unfair to the artists HU is supposed to cater for if he were to gain a place on the CD over somebody who wouldn't have a chance getting their music heard elsewhere. Still it's all just speculation and hypothosis, i doubt Styles would want to do himself out of money by having his music featured on HU when he has AATW.

Okay so what if "Darren Styles - Skydiving (Reese Remix)" was on the next album, and it was all breakbeat and ****ing gorgeous? Would you say no? I wouldn't.
Of course it wouldn't happen but this is just an example. Sharkey's name is on this CD, and he just did Bonkers. So is Re-Con's... a lot, actually.

To be honest, CDJay... HU4 lacked one thing. "Sorry".

LOL!
I have to agree. It would be perfect on disc 3 between 'Endymion - Abduction' and 'Scott Brown - I Became Hardcore.'

Really? I thought HU was about putting out an album of good music, no matter who the producer who made it is. And Brisk has been in the DJ Mag top 100, so in that sense he's "bigger" than Styles (my point being that there's plenty of "big" artists on HU).

Agreed.
Brisk
Ham
Marc Smith
Al Storm
Stormtrooper
Scott Brown
ReCon
Gammer
Kev Energy
Sharkey
etc
etc....
Never heard of em!
Good music will always find it's way onto compilations (unless it's an in-house job) so albums like Hardcore Underground will always feature music on merit and not because your mate owns it. The word 'commercial' is so overused it's ridiculous. If it was so watered down and popular it'd be a lot more widely available. A few years ago, having a Hardcore version included on a release was something to get excited about - now it's more fashionable to call it selling out.
The same people that are saying 'ooh, we need more exposure for the "scene"' are the very same people who also bleat about it becoming more widespread and want it all for themselves!
Besides, Hardcore in it's entirity is pretty much still an underground scene - regardless of the content of the event.
Like it or not, variety (even the stuff we don't like) is what stops Hardcore disappearing for good. Nobody wants a return to the bad old days where we got next to nothing!
