There have been research, its the simple analogy that smokers die younger (so non smoker uses health care a lot more in his/her life time). Non smokers cost a quarter more to the gov, and thats not counting the tax dollars gained from cigarette tax. Our non smoker, absolutist prime minister also have said this on a health seminar. I could give you a link, but its in finnish. The non smokers have said that smokers shouldnt get health care cause we did it on purpose and cost to the gov so much, so it was hilarious when it was actually the exact opposite.

As i said on the first page, i dont demand a ban. I demand control, if i was the dictator. ALL animals would need a licence to get one. Any serious case of animal crulty would lose their ability to get any pet. Breaking the law too many times would lose your right to own a pet. It would need special reasons to get the permission to house large pets in citys. On strong minded/aggressive attack/guard dogs the owner should always be as strong as the dog and before getting one should be questioned by a dog trainer or some sort of expert who can see if the person is fit to handle such dogs.

The same way as some people demand control on speeding. Its just a matter of how much that separates us. We dont really have any hysteria about dogs here by the media, at least i havent seen it. Everyones too busy to get handguns banned by any means possible, which has faced the sort of media bias you were talking about.

Definitely agree.
Please clarify how dogs exercising in parks is an environmental health risk.

Dogs (or any animals for that matter) shouldnt be let use any place, where children play, as their toilet (though this is more on proper children playgrounds). It runs a health risk. IMHO dogs have their own parks, if there isnt enough of them they should ask more. But never let their dog run wild on public parks. Some of us dont like dogs and are actually afraid of them. Plus its against the law here.

hmm. fair point. I just want it removed because I don't appreciate it on the bottom of my foot. Assuming it all gets removed, I would say there are many worse things on grass than a bit of remnant turd.

So because wars kill people, we shouldnt worry about murders?
depends. what is the ratio between deaths in current wars and murders globally? per country? per city? etc.

People dying of cancer is one thing, the reason they are dying of cancer is another. It is the reason that should be causing concern.

The medical costs thing: really not to sure about that. It is something smokers do say though. I think the gov's incentive is more through the billions of tax revenue from buying cigarettes rather than lower health costs. gov's are all about gains now rather than in 50 years time. At least, Australian gov's are.

Over here smoking is banned in most/all undercover areas - not really sure. It's ok in pubs as long as there is an outside area. Min purchasing age is 18, so youth "can't" purchase it anyway. Can sort of understand the hospital one from a hygiene standpoint.

Poor communication on my part. Not really the last sentence but also the gist of the post. you were complaining about a media beat up against smoking whipping up hysteria among people that have no clue but willingly accept anything put before them. While I didnt think about it at the time, the speeding thing is also a good analogy as well as smoking. What I'm definitely not saying is that dogs never killed anyone, they have. It's just not the cause for terror that it has been made out to be. Smoking does present real (and deadly) dangers, but as you have said, people with no idea have come out with pure trash against smoking (going to accept your word for this because I wasn't there). Same goes for speeding, there are definitely circumstances where speed can be great cause for concern (urban areas, shopping strips, schools etc). Speed and general driving attitude in these areas should be monitored. But dropping the speed limit of a freeway where there are no pedestrians to 80 (km/h), fining motorists and have the media telling us its for our own good is pure and blatant bs. It is three examples of the same issue, media beat-up. The vast majority of these dogs will have never hurt anyone, and will never hurt anyone. But they are painted as though every single one of these dogs is just waiting to kill its first child, which could not be further from the truth.

I do have to say though, that people have to be prepared to face the consequences of their pets actions. If their dog savages someone, they should be prepared to pay for medical and or face charges. Saying it's the dogs fault doesn't cut it.

Because some owners are irresponsible and do not shift the sh*t left by the dogs thus creating a health hazard especially if a kid was to fall over onto it, ewwww

Here its worse. Imagine all the frozen turd from 6 months time, simultaneously appear on the grass. Its like a damn minefield. The smell of spring smells like dog shit here. Though it has gotten a lot better over the years, so i think more and more dog owners clean up the mess. Or maybe its just the area i live in these days.

There was many good songs at the time of Bonkers 6, unfortunately it doesn't showcase any of them, awful release. Hardcore Heaven 4 on the other hand....
