I've had mine for a day. The A.B & Douglas mix had great music, and I'm gonna listen to the others later.

Thanks for the positive review :) I saw all sorts of theories on the forums as to what the CD would be like, be it a hardcore/rave breaks mix, or updates of oldskool tunes, so you weren't the only one!
As for the sporadic breakbeat thing, that's a fair call. An initial thought was to lump it all to the beginning of the CD, and whilst I personally LOVE breakbeat hardcore, and more and more producers are starting to produce it (hell, if Styles / Gammer can do it and not commited career-suicide...*cough*), it may not have gone down too well en-masse, and there's nothing worse than having to skip the first third of a CD just to get to the 4/4 stuff.
We wanted to stray from anything which could be deemed as "formulaic". Slippers and I are as eclectic as they come, so the tracklist was set like this to keep things interesting. Even if we did stick all the breakbeat at the beginning, it would have effectively mirrored CD2, sans gabber. Our CD was mixed last, and we wanted to make sure that all 4 CD's were different ;)
Thanks again for the comments, glad you enjoyed the mix. :)
I definitely think that it was the right decision to include the breakbeat all the way through the mix. This is something that I have started doing myself and I think it works brilliantly.
I think the breakbeat is more than powerful enough to compete with the 4/4 stuff. Fracus & Darwin have shown that it works, and that it works even better at raves.
I just know that this mix is going to be one of the ones you never get bored of and in a couple of years time I will happily put it on and enjoy it just the same. Very few mixes can do this, a couple being Oli G & Lost Souls from HU3? I think and your mix on COH.
On a final note... Pianos!!! Yes yes yes... So many pianos, so much influence from past hardcore sounds but with the modern production and sounds. Plus 4/4 breaks is a big thumbs up. I love it!
ps. The Japanese really have a nack of producing BRILLIANT hardcore. I wish J-Core was more prevalent and widely available over here.

Definitely, I know how you feel about the piracy thing Samination but honestly if you can get it then do so, it's a really great CD set and I say that as someone who has been fairly cynical of UK Hardcore. HU5 gave me a lot of hope for hardcore, it's definitely worth the money.

piracy? I don't download (hardcore) mixes unless their actually free, just like free (hardcore) songs :P
Sorry fellas, there was supposted to be a joke in here, but I had to go and do something else, so i forgot it >_<
Anyways, Even for all the good tracks there might be on the album (since I havent listen i cant say), I've stopped buying mixed combilation, unless there arent unmixed tracks on there. Even tho people rarelly buy singles, I prefer to pay the artists I like that way.

I guess the breakbeat thing is all down to personal taste at the end of the day. I can see where DMS was coming from, but on the other hand, lots of people seemed to like it! And as for J-Core, there's some amazing stuff doing the rounds for sure!

My computer refuses to let me play the rest of the CDs by randomly pausing, and keeps constantly producing rips with random artifacts and static in them every time I try. Therefore, I must either pirate a decent rip (EVEN THOUGH THE ALBUM IS SITTING ON MY DESK AT THIS VERY MINUTE), or assume they are shit and not bother listening to them.

Give the disk a wipe, or use a lens cleaning disk for your computer. Do other CD's rip okay?

First I've heard of anyone having trouble playing, or ripping, any of the CDs off HU5 :S
I'd recommend Exactaudiocopy (and using the tool contained therein to detect drive features for optimal secure extraction).
Tres bizarre!

even tho I prefer Easy CD-DA Extractor, EAC will give you the perfect copy of a CD (as long as the CD was burned correctly to begin with :P)

It has to do with my computer, nothing to do with the CD. I've had this problem for weeks.
Also CDJay, I think you'd be amused to know that the Gracenote database has HU5 listed as K-Pop.

"Can You Hear the Silence" is at number 1 in the TID drum 'n bass charts which is a first for a breakbeat hardcore track AFAIK!
