So up now is the HH awards final nominations and votes. Sadly CDJay did not make best contribution, oh well there's always next year. And I didn't see HU podcast on there either. BUT both powerstomp AND HU6 are up for compilation of the year, and they haven't even been released yet lol. My vote in that category is obviously going to HU6. Here's the link.

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/K6TYM3T

BTW, the voters messed up the freeform noms yet again. not only are fracus and darwin and marc smith up there, but so is Kutski. Only two actual full-time freeform djs/producers there. I'm putting my vote in for Douglas of course :)

Jesus christ how easy must these votes be to rig?

I just stuck together a simple script that checks my options automatically, stuck myself behind a proxy that dynamically changes my appearing IP, and boom i can generate my options as many times as i want.

No wonder the same old people win if it's that bloody easy to keep filling in the form - ****ing ridiculous!

Spelling mistakes everywhere, albums nominated that aren't even released yet, and artists in all the wrong categories.

This is such a retarded load of ****.

Hmm... I feel like "Scott Brown" should win lifetime achievement award.
Open up Tor, record a macro where I enter in his name for lifetime achievement, run it about 300 times.

Oh, look, Scott brown wins?

:P

Twista for best record label *facepalm*
That'll be the same twista that hasn't released anything in over a year and who's producers have moved on to other labels effectively killing the label.

I'm with Wong, the on I was most concerned with was Vibes for Lifetime Achievement. I know very little of the up & coming MCs, for example, and those particular sets what were suggested.

There's only five people to vote for rather than 10 in the freeform category too.

I would have thought the likes of A.B, Lost Soul, Substanced and Alek would have had plenty of valid votes to fill up the other five slots?

Yeah, I set up something similar for the nomination form out of curiosity as well. I made a post at the time saying something to that effect. It's just silly. Although there's a limit to what they can do to prevent that, in their defence.

All things considered, the ability to rig the vote is hardly the defining reason not to embrace the awards. They just fundamentally don't work on any level.

Edit: It would be pretty cool if Sy won best DJ though. Be interesting to see what would happen!

Why the **** is freeform DJ and freeform producer merged into one category? I don't know anything about the awards so maybe it's always been that way but that doesn't make it any less retarded.

I mean, I understand that the vast majority of voters either don't know or don't care about the difference (as tends to be evidenced by the nominations and votes each year) but they should still be separated in the interests of fairness.

It's like comparing apples and oranges. Although, of course, it's hardly the only thing that raises eyebrows about those awards.

I reserve the phrase 'flabbergasted' for these sorts of moments.

But it's not hard to tie votes to user accounts, look at any rating based system; hell even IMDB doesn't allow you to rank a movie unless your a registered user

That's true, I hadn't actually considered the potential of registration at the time! You're right, of course.

I have about 10 different email adresses and countless locations to register plenty of times. Not that I would, but still...

Sure he won lifetime achievement last year and nothing happened, he obv wasn't there to accept his award. Pretty good going for someone who was just outed as a Paedo ;-)
