Its really hard for me to say this but England have got a great chance of reaching the semis! the draw is the easiest route for any team! but you can't win a world cup unless you've got a world class striker and Rooney will not be fit! I just can't see anyone beating Brazil!

Owen will be fit for the first game and Sven says he's never seen him looking so sharp in training. My idea is Gerrard and and Owen upfront, with Beckham, Lampard, Joe Cole and Aaron Lennon in midfield. Earlier in the week Gerrard said that he would'nt mind a go as a centre forward, so push Lennon in his place and there's more pace in midfield and as for Gerrard being a striker, well his accuracy and precision is probably the best you can get.

If i was being pedantic (spl?) i would remind you that you said you dont win the wc without a world class striker and rooney is injured. I going to though.
Read on the bbc site that owen might not play tonight as they dont wont to risk him.
Surely he needs to play games to be 100% fro the group games? hmm

^^^ Yeah it's not the best. All we can hope for is no injuries really, I'll take that as a result tbh.

3-1, good result...bad match. England 6.5/10.

That might be a bit unfair England 7/10 Sven 1/10 stop playing your love child Hargreaves.
Don't mind Hargreaves myself, he's nothing special, but he's helped along with Bayern Munich winning the double. Would have prefered Lennon in his place tonight though.
Quite glad to see that they sat Gerrard behind Owen like i suggested before Owen wasn't that good tonight, but like Rooney, he tends to have a taste for the bigger games.

Err Sven's love child played the holding role in midfield. Mr lennon of spurs is a right-sided midfield player even a winger maybe. If sven played lennon it would mean dropping or moving Beckham inside.

Nope! I didn't mean Hargreaves working in a midfield position. I was implying that Lennon should have come on last night instead of Hargreaves.
