I heart this video. I'm presuming that's you, because you are from Atlanta...whether or not the southern accent is real, it's convincing. Good work.
Yep :) That's me! Like my new hair color? I got it dyed for the start of spring semester at my college :)

I can't even put into words how much i agree with Luna-C. Not a ****ing word except truth in that whole entire ****ing post. Especially about the "Buddy" system - thats a real **** in the scene.
massive respect to Luna-C for telling it EXACTLY like it is and pretty much saying what a lot of people here have been TRYING to say, but have not been able to articulate it.

They aren't overlooked, the big names are well aware of them, they just care more about money than music.

Its also dumb to assume someone does or does not care about the music they make. You cant know for sure. Some people lovve the music more than anything and make crap. Others dont care at all, and make music that sells. Such is life.
What you can do is look at what they do with the music they make, and how they behave within the scene. Hixxy is a good example of someone who cares about the music very much, and gets crap for it. The reason he gets crap is because he is at the top, and unfortunately, the scene is so small that he pretty much dictates a lot of what happenss in it. This makes people unhappy, but I dont believe its malicious...its more an inevitable side effect of success.
However, certain labels and certain artists are compromised by their desire to make money. This is fine in most business's, but when it comes to the arts (music, painting, acting etc) it creates a break between the strength of the art versus the sellability of the art. This pollutes the arts, and makes it harder to tell what is genuine, and what isn't.
But this thread is about Re-Con pushing music forward, right? Well, I cant see it myself, though that doesn't make me right or wrong, its just an opinion. And for the record, I dont try to push the music in any direction, and I dont think I really push music forward. If I do, its accidental. I just make what I like and hope for the best lol...If anything, I am motivated by being bored of myself. Whatever I just did is not what I want to do next, if you see what I mean. But I wasn't always that way, I became more arty as I did more, and I learned from past mistakes.
Much of the music now is formulated, and so it is stagnant. Stagnation leads to rot, and to death. I know this, because Remix Records had a formula, unintentional at first, then intentional. I got bored, and so did the people buying it, and then it kinda died...and the label was sold on eventually.
But what I do see, and what annoys me, is artists who tow the party line getting the breaks, often without doing the time. The "buddy" system. Its shit, and does no good for the scene, IMO. Then again, perhaps I am just mad because my social skills are, err, crap. My mouth opens, words come out, people frown, that sort of thing...
In the end, there is only one test to see if someone in the scene is genuine or not. Are they still here when the money is gone? I think, within a year or two, we will see that very clearly...the next few years are going to be a disaster for those who rely on the money, and who are motivated by the money. Equally, the next few years will be wonderful for those who just love the music...the pheonix will rise from the ashes!
Brilliant post.
I don't think I've read anything as interesting as that on here for a long long time now.

All you people slagging Recon obviously don't know agreat deal about quality productions. And the way you slander producers is how the scene loses them. DNA is a perfect example. I agree Luna C and Arkitect are good too. But you can"t take it away from Recons new solo projects on Clubland Exteme. They're the cleanest productions in the scene at the moment and the sounds are fresh. While I'm a new member, I've been listening to hardcore since 1995 so have some knowledge of a good track.

Any ways love or hate my opinion, it's great it's gotten people talking about the way the hardcore scene is going. Cause at the end of the day we all have a passion for the same thing. HARDCORE! Also have to agree, all these established producers in the scene should give up and commers a break with their new productions.

It might have a good production but what use it if you don't like the sound [track]? If you know what I mean.

His production quality was not the point - it was wether Re-Con is pushing hardcore forwards or not. Seems like the general consensus is no he isn't.

Re-con made some good stuff, but its all gone a bit too chessy recently. Most of it down too clubland. Just look at the fact that Darren Styles is releaseing an unmixed album soon.
Dont get me wrong i like a bit of cheese once in a while but there should be more stuff coming out like wot Kurt, Al strom, Stormtrooper are doing at mo.
