well then your a druggie ;)
seriously though - i havent heard all the releases off that label, but a friend who was a druggie, convinced i would love techno, lumped me with a **ton** of techno vinyl alot of which seemed to be off Smitten.
i listened to all of it, and it was like listening to the same drumloop, no melody whatsoever, but using a different kick drum.
it was very easy to mix.
funny really, i did actually enjoy some of the songs off DJ Fury's off yer nut mix http://www.discogs.com/release/213608 (CD3) and i think some of that stuff was off smitten
Hahaha. Nah, techno is good man. Just gotta find the good tracks, same as anything really. It does tend to be lacking in melody but that's how it is supposed to be. It's got a bit of rhythm to the drums and it's on a bit of a tribal tip. I like that personally.
I don't think you have to be a raging druggie to enjoy it. You certainly need to have a love for drum sounds though.

:) Yeah. There is always some good in all genres I find. You just have to decide if you like the mediocre stuff enough to bother looking.

Q. F. T.
You could say to someone "you don't truly enjoy going to the cinema if you need a bag of popcorn to enjoy it". You'd be right. The thing is, loads of people who do truly enjoy going to the cinema still take a bag of popcorn with them when they go.
But you wouldn't buy popcorn to make the film seem better would you?
And anybody who NEEDS to take drugs to enjoy the modern hardcore sound shouldn't be wasting their time on it in the first place!
But drugs don't make music seem better. It's certainly never worked for me anyway. If I'm ****ed and someone plays something shit I still think it's shit. Doesn't matter what I've been hoofing.
I don't think these people everyone is talking about actually exist who only go to a party to do rugs and don't like the music. Why would you do that? You would just do them at home or go to a party where you do like the music.
When I take popcorn to a cinema it's EXACTLY the same as when I take rugs to a rave. It's not to improve the film/music, it's because I like to do both and why not multi task. I don't need to do both at once to enjoy either and I'd be pretty shocked if there where people out their that did. :-/

It makes good music better, and bad music still bad.
And people don`t use drugs to rave. The use drugs and rave. There is a big difference. I don`t need to do drugs to enjoy a rave, but if I`m gonna do them anyway, why not rave on themÉ
When I come down off E, I enjoy the music just as much as I did off it. I might not feel the best, but that happens with every comedown.

ahaha there's been some funny posts from members in this thread (mainly Bulby and Jayowen) anywho, i'm a believer in a zero drugs policy myself. If the scene could take that and MC's out of it, i'd be much fonder of the scene. But realistically, that will never happen.

Give it up, they won`t get the popcorn arguement. Why ever have sex while drinkingÉ You don`t need (sorry, shouldn`t need) alcohal to enjoy sex, but doing both at the same time just increases your peak.
And nobody here can truthfully say that every single DJ they look up to is drug free.

That's fair enough mate, good for you. Shouldn't be pushing your beliefs on others though. Raves are supposed to be about excepting each other regardless of what your beliefs are.

ok... if someone is drinking a beer at a rave, would you call them an alcoholic?
If no, then what is the difference?
People don't drink at raves because they "need" to, to make them enjoy the music... They drink because they like being drunk.
The same as drugs. People dont do drugs to make them enjoy the night... they do them because they like doing drugs.... nothing to do with the face they don't enjoy the music

hmm, well thats good to hear - it would make it all the more lame if you took them because you needed to, to enjoy the evening.
as it happens, i dont drink to get drunk - being drunk is pretty retarded.
when i went to creamfields i had ..like a can of strongbow...
i dont agree with the original post that they were made for stabs or whatever his odd point was.
i also dont have problems with people taking drugs - apart from when they spoil to for everyone else when partys get busted for it and venues closed down - which of course is also to do with what is legal and what isnt..

QFT, to the max!
If you need to take something that changes your state of mind, sense's, and overall being to enjoy something then you need to stop listening, and go somewhere else.
~Edit~ I'm just gonna respond to the other posts here.
If you NEED to take drugs to listen to the music, then you need to move on.
If you WANT to do it just because you want to, and still enjoy/hate the music either way, then that's fine. Do I agree with it? Nah, but I don't judge.
